Paris Hilton has left jail after only serving a few days due to an undisclosed medical issue.

She left after midnight last night and is resting comfortable at home. She will  serve the rest of her sentence at her ultra lavish mansion wearing an electronic monitoring device.

"She was not released, she was reassigned," Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept. spokesperson Steve Whitmore said at a press conference Thursday.

He could not disclose what the medical issue was due to privacy laws. He declined to say whether it was physical or psychological.  He added that the decision was made after "extensive consultation" with a doctor.

We do know that it was not a staph infection.  Although the facility had experienced a recent staph outbreak.

Hilton’s original 45-day sentence has been reinstated in exchange for serving the time at home.  She already has 5 days under her belt.

If Paris violates any terms she will be taken to court immediately and thrown in jail for 90 days.

Asked whether she would be confined completely, Whitmore said: "There’s some fudge with that. If someone goes and gets their mail, if they’re 30 minutes outside, that’s okay. It’s a complicated electronic situation."

"Here’s my understanding: She’s confined to her home with an ankle bracelet. She cannot leave that facility," he said.
