Trent Reznor is accusing rock legend Gene Simmons of straying from his rock roots by creating music for the sole purpose of making money.
Says Reznor, “I hope I don’t fall into that trap. I loved Kiss when I was growing up. At puberty they were there to rescue me from a life of athleticism - failed athleticism.
“But I would hope that I never become Gene Simmons: where as an X-year-old man I’m singing about making out with chicks in the back of a car because the kids want that. That’s not how I see my role as an artist.”

Hate to break it to ya Trent, but - Gene Simmons has ALWAYS been about making
money…ALWAYS…ever since “Kiss Alive”….Don’t you remember the “blood” used
in the comic book? The first KISS dolls? “Kiss Meets The Phantom Of The Park”?–
And that was just what they sold us in the 70’s!
That band has MILKED every last cent for every last promotional tie-in since
1977….30 f’cking years is alot of milk and alot of green.
I was in your shoes, my friend. I worshipped KISS, and they’re the reason
I’m in the music “biz” today. But I figured out a long time ago, that their talent
level was about a 4, and their greed level was about an 11. But - they knew
what “the show” was about, and how to really work it.
The thing is tho, it’s not something they’ve ever hidden. Even KISS admits that
they don’t write songs for the “Live Earth” crowd. They write songs to
get pussy and make shitloads of money. Welcome to rock ‘n roll……….
