Nicole Richie showed up to court today with boyfriend Joel Madden.
She was sentenced to four days in jail with a three-year probation. Repeat DUI offenders are generally sentenced to three months in jail unless they agree to the three-year probation terms.
Richie was also fined $2048.
She was given the opportunity to serve her four days in a nicer, paid city jail rather than the county jail. She must complete her jail term by September 28th.
Los Angeles County Commissioner Steven Lubell scolded Richie during the trial saying,
“Someone could’ve gotten killed. You need to understand that driving under the influence is extremely dangerous.”
