Corey Feldman told MTV News in August that there may be a possible animated sequel to the classic 80s movie, ‘Goonies’.
Now co-star Sean Astin has stepped up tp the plate saying that a sequel to Goonies is an “absolute certainty.”
“The writing’s on the wall when they’re releasing the DVD in such numbers.”
Feldman says they are thinking about having children of the original Goonies characters experience an adventure of their own. Astin likes the idea .
“Steven [Spielberg] and Dick [Donner] and all the powers that be … they really feel like the thing that made the movie strong was that it was about kids, so they really want to make the next movie about kids…the next generation of Goonies. And they’ve had a hard time tackling that.I have three children…and Corey’s got a kid now. So as we now all have kids who are coming into the age that we were when we made the movie, it’s more likely to me that they’ll figure out how to design a story that will satisfy the older audience in terms of connecting with the original 1985 Goonies, and then [also] create this new thing.
I remain as open-minded and willing to participate as I have ever been.”

They better not screw this up.
I would love to see most if not all of the original actors return and play their characters, but not a new generation. Also no recasts, if someone cannot reprise their role please just let them be recently deceased/very sick and the others together again, for one final adventure dedicated it to him/her.. the ending of which could be a real tear jerker. If they try to replace someone with another popular actor not even around back then, that would really kill it for me, because you know s/he would take center stage even if not written that way.
