Prince fans are up in arms after the pop star ordered several fansites to take down any photos of him.
Sites affected are HouseQuake.com, PrinceFams.com and Prince.org, who have all been asked by Prince’s attorney to comply immediately. They stand accused of copyright infringement.
The webmasters are outraged and have banded together to form ‘Prince Fans United‘ in protest.
A statement on the website reads,
“It is our opinion that these threats are not made in an attempt to enforce valid copyright as Prince alleges in his threats, rather we believe they are attempts to stifle all critical commentary about Prince.
We strongly believe that such actions are in violation of the freedom of speech and should not be allowed. Prince claims that fansites are not allowed to present any artwork with Prince’s likeness, to the extreme that he has demanded the removal of fans’ own photographs of their Prince inspired tattoos and their vehicles displaying Prince inspired license plates.”

Well contrary to what you read here not ALL Princes “fans” and i hate to use that word, but not all of us are up in arms over what is a rather silly row. I personally cannot see the problem and do not believe everything I read – I believe that he has “asked” some sites to remove his images due to copyright – I don’t have a problem with that at all – the attitude of some so called fans – that is something I have a problem with – my how we quickly forget – just had 21 nights – the best of my life – Prince has personally enriched my life and given me so much joy – there aint no way I am angry with him – and before you all start thinking I am just blinded by love or loyalty – yes maybe I am a bit – love him yes I do – as a fellow human being – I couldn’t possibly luuurrve him as I don’t KNOW him and never will – but I love what he does and how it makes me feel, loyalty yes – I trust him he has never let me down. Ok I may not like everything he does but feel no need to critisise it either – if you can’t say summut good say nuttin. I do hope this all blows over cos its getting real ugly and upsetting – its upsetting to me to hear people diss the man – I just can’t believe how ungrateful it all feels – no other artist has given so much to so many. Thank you Prince – U do what U have to x
