Charlize Theon’s ailing grandmother, Bettie, is making a plea for the actress to contact her.
Charlize, who grew up in South Africa, hasn’t spoken with her father’s side of the family since he came home drunk one night and threatened to kill both her and her mother. Her mother, Gerda, shot and killed him in defense. She was never prosecuted.
Soon after Charlize came to the United States to pursue an acting career.
Bettie has written to Charlize numerous times asking for her to please contact her but her granddaughter has never replied.
She says, “Things were never the same after that dark night. I still mourn my son’s death and I grieve for my famous granddaughter who refuses to know me.”

If it was me.. I’d stay away from this woman, and refuse her chance to public rebuttal.. who insists her son was a fine, good man who deserved any chance to live and harm his wife and children over and over during their family life, is wierd. He’s dead, and we don’t speak ill of the dead, but secure the living. God is in control settling the who what when and where of the situation, but we have a mind that is able remember how this one person might have harmed you, and would continue to harass even kill you if still alive,.. is sane and just. Convicing me to change my mind, forget and forgive the parent that abused my family and me, threatened me with death, and was strong and able to do it.. just to pacify granny’s stubborn conscience before death, is wrong. You never break the abuse cycle and use your common sense otherwise.
Charlize should contact the lady. Her and her mom’s relationship with her dad should not affect her relationship with her grandma. Of course she is always going to love her son and not believe anything bad. But she wouldn’t be reaching out if she hated Charlize and her mom for what happened.
No one knows why Charlize chooses not to contact her, could be the woman is nuttier then her son was or the cause of his craziness, usually abuse is passed down gen to gen. My father was a drunk, who had violent blackouts every weekend that I can remember growing up, and everything he did was traced back to his own abuse as a child. Charlize owes the woman squat.

Screw the grandma…Charlize has every right to live her life and not have to kow-tow to this old bag…
BigNutz is right. Charlize doesn’t owe her paternal grandmother a thing. In fact, maybe Granny is the reason that Daddy was a sick, murderous nutjob. Not ALL Grannies are sweet and cuddly. Mine was a crazy, abusive head case, and I’m sorry I got stuck with her after my parents were killed. Now that I’m grown she complains I don’t visit or call. Yeah, I wonder why psycho-granny?
