Heath Ledger Found DEAD!

Heath Ledger was found dead today in his Manhattan apartment!

Police are saying it may have been drug related.

Ledger had an appointment for a massage at his residence (which he sublets from Mary-Kate Olsen) at 3:30pm EST. When the masseuse arrived (3:26pm) the housekeeper went to alert him. That’s when she found him dead.

The housekeeper and the masseuse tried shaking him awake but after he didn’t respond they called 911. Ledger was pronounced dead at 3:45pm EST this afternoon.

He died in his bed at the age of 28.

UPDATES

• TMZ is reporting that sleeping pills were found on and around the bed of Ledger’s. They add that he had a substance abuse problem but a friend claims he had been clean for a year.

• NYPD spokesman Paul Browne stated, “We are investigating the possibility of an overdose.” Ledger was allegedly found naked in bed with sleeping pills found near him. Paparazzi swarmed the building when news broke but officers guarded the door, since Ledger’s body was still inside. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow [Jan.23].

• US Weekly is reporting that friends of Heath’s say they “saw this coming,” and say that he had been in a depression for sometime as he struggle to maintain sobriety. They add that Ledger’s daughter with ex Michelle Williams was the only light in his life.

• TMZ has video of Heath’s body being removed from the building and to the medical examiners office by ambulance.

• Heath had pneumonia before he died.

• His family insists that he did not kill himself – they say that police told them it was accidental. The family is reportedly distraught over allegations he committed suicide.

• Michele Williams is said to be devastated and is headed to NY at this moment.

R.I.P. Heath! This is just so terribly disturbing. Only one week apart from 25 year-old Brad Renfro’s death!
