Now that Heath Ledger has been dead for over a week, people are starting to come forward with tales of sex, drugs and desperation. Which stories are true, and which are purely manifested for financial purposes have yet to be seen. But one thing is for sure, the dirty laundry is starting to fly.
The latest drama is Entertainment Tonight and The Insider pulling a controversial video that was filmed after the SAG awards two years ago of Ledger reportedly snorting cocaine. Ledger is not only seen snorting a white substance through a rolled up dollar bill, he is also heard in the video saying he used to smoke 5 spliffs a day for 20 years.
****UPDATE: Nw reports state it is NOT Ledger snorting cocaine, it is of a party-goer. Big difference! Helloo!
PR firm, ID Public Relations, who has represented Ledger, released a statement Wednesday condemning the TV tabloids for planning to run the video, claiming they “purchased [the video] for a large sum of money in the hopes of stirring up a salacious and exploitive story about Heath, which would win them big ratings on the first day of sweeps.”
The pressure was enough and producers pulled the clip. Entertainment Tonight states on their website,
“Out of respect for Heath Ledger’s family, “Entertainment Tonight” and “The Insider” have decided not to run the Heath Ledger video which has been circulating in the world media.”
Out of respect to the family? Laughable. C’mon ET, you’re not fooling anyone.

YOUR REPORT ABOVE IS ABSOLUTELY WRONG. Before you post something, get the facts straight. This is a human being’s memory and reputation that you are tarnishing….one who cannot set the record straight.
What ET failed to mention in their sensationalistic promotion of this video in yesterday’s segment is that the station that procured this video, and has seen the entire thing unedited, also states that at no time in the video do you actually see Heath partaking in the drugs. You see him drinking a beer while OTHERS do cocaine lines and he says he “USED TO smoke 5 joints a day for 20 years” (”used to” being the operative words, not to mention that claim suggests he’s been smoking pot since he was 6, which is probably an exaggeration.)
This is a Hollywood post-party for the SAG Awards, which were held that night. I challenge you to find a Hollywood party that does not have some room where drugs are being done. Just because Heath was there while others were doing it, does not mean he was doing it. If he was, you would have seen it in the video.
On that note….Heath, who was an insomniac, had a tendency in the middle of the night to roam Washington Square Park in NYC…chit chatting with the homeless. In the same matter, just because he was in WAshington Square Park hanging out with the homeless people, does not mean he was homeless. Gabish?
I like what Joel McHale said on The Soup about Heath,
A talented, decent guy is gone-stop digging through the dirt weasels.
dirt, weasels.
This video was discussed on our news(channel 10 Australia) last night and they said “AT NO TIME IN THE VIDEO IS HEATH SEEN DOING DRUGS!”
MY friends used to do drugs and I didn’t, because I was in the same room as them, does that mean I was doing drugs too?
A very sad end to a lovely and talenty young man. Leave him alone. Leave the family alone and have some respect for their child. Please.
Move on. Death is the EASY part. It’s those left behind that have to live on – THAT is the hard part. DEATH is peace. LIVING is the hell. Heath was some actor, someone cared about him – not me, but someone did. I could care less about this man – my heart is with little children who die because of fucked up adults.
