New reports are saying that Britney Spears has been released from the hospital today and is home resting.

From TMZ:

Britney Spears has been released from the psychiatric ward at UCLA Medical Center, the L.A. Times is reporting. According to the paper, Spears slipped quietly out — compared to the massive fanfare that went on the night she went in.

A law enforcement source tells TMZ the hospital let her go “because she was no longer required to stay there after 11:30 AM.” We have not confirmed this independently, however, if the hospital decides Britney is no longer a danger to herself or others, the hospital loses its basis to hold her against her will.

TMZ has learned UCLA doctors determined Britney did not pose the legal danger to herself or to others such that they could continue to hold her against her will. As a result, she was released today and we’re told she’s already back home.

The conservatorship is still in place. Sources connected with the case say they anticipated that UCLA would probably release her before the 14-day extension because she became cooperative and relatively stable. We’re told the goal with Brit’s mom and dad was to establish the conservatorship while she was hospitalized so she would return home to a controlled environment rather than the chaos that consumed her life.

Let’s hope she continues to get the help that she needs, that Lutfi loser stays away and that her parents stay involved. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here. I have a feeling everything is coming to a head.

UPDATES:

• Since leaving the hospital Britney has already been spotted out driving around, talking in a British accent. Looks like things are back to normal. Sheesh.

• Britney drove to the Beverly Hills Hotel where she was mobbed by paparazzi.

•  Finalpixx reported that her father, Jamie had called police to get his daughter, but Adnan showed up at the Beverly Hills Hotel and whisked her away. The two are reportedly driving around Rodeo Drive at the moment.
