Velver Revolver front man Scott Weiland and drummer Matt Sorum are at each other’s throats after Weiland announced during a show that it would be the band’s “last tour”.
Apparently after the concert Sorum hopped online and blogged about it. Scott wasn’t too thrilled about this so he took to the internet to fire back.
Weiland went off on Sorum through Blabbermouth.net:
“I’ve made many attempts to remain cordial with the members of VR, but mainly, the likes of you. Funny though — this is your FIRST band, as opposed to being a hired gun. I’ve been making records (now on my ninth), which have sold over 35 million copies worldwide and have maintained a level of professionalism regardless of how many drugs I’ve ingested into my system.”
“I have only cancelled one tour during the entire course of my 16-year run and that was the ‘make-up’ Australia tour. Now, shall I open that can of worms, Matthew? Release the Kraken? Serve… Volley! You cancelled the Aussie tour in the fall because you went to rehab, but I won’t say why… we’ll just let Blabbermouth find out for themselves.”
“On a separate note, we did an STP photo shoot before this tour and it was fun, inspiring and it gave me that thrill — that feeling that got my rocks off from the get-go.”
Well, it sounds like Weiland has his head way up his ass.
Rambling on and on about his successes as though Matt has had no career before VR, which is completely ridiculous.
Matt was Steven Adler’s replacement in GNR, he also played with The Cult and even a band fronted by Tori Amos before she rose to stardom (Y Kant Tori Read). In fact, Sorum was in the business before Weiland ever was.
Sure his level of success hasn’t reached that of Weiland’s, but he enjoys what he does and is known for being very generous to fans. Weiland is mostly known as a junkie rock star who’s always in rehab and the papers.
I think it’s pretty obvious who the asshole of the band is.

Yep, Scott Weiland has always sounded like an ass to me, with a head WAY too big. Oh, and Scott? There is only one Mick Jagger - stop looking like such a tool on stage.

Wow, his ego is bigger than his drug problem?!

I feel sorry for the rest of the VR guys. 2/3 of them formerly put up with another asshole named Axl Rose.

I attended an Aerosmith/Cult concert a few years ago and turned around to see Matt Sorum standing right behind me after The Cult finished their opening set. For him to come out and watch Aerosmith with the rest of us fans instead of hiding backstage tells me a lot about what a stand up guy he is. He even went backstage and drug the bassist out to sign my ticket.
