Punk rock legend Lux Interior, real name Erick Lee Purkhiser, singer, songwriter and mastermind behind the Cramps died Wednesday at Glendale Memorial Hospital.

Some reports are listing his age at 60, some at 62.

His publicist says that Purkhiser suffered from a heart condition.

Purkhiser and wife ‘Poison’ Ivy Rorschach formed the Cramps in the late 70s and were inspired by B-movie horror flicks. The band became a regular part of the 70s New York music scene playing the likes of CBGC and Max’s Kansas City on a regular basis.
