Adam Carolla’s Los Angeles based radio talk show has been axed.
The last day of the Adam Carolla show will be Friday, January 20th.
Yes, tomorrow.
L.A.’s only “all-talk” commercial FM station, KLSX (97.1 Free FM), will switch to a Top-40 format at 5 p.m. PST. As if there aren’t enough of those already, sheesh.
As a sort of consolation, Carolla’s “best of” shows will air for the next month.
CBS said in a press release that the new format will “combine the power of its on-air position with myriad online and digital applications creating a full 360 degree audio and visual experience.”
Carolla announced Thursday morning that he would start podcasting “The Adam Carolla Show” beginning Monday at adamcarolla.com.

Radio SUCKS. Has for a LONG time. Adam will land on his feet. Podcasts are gonna take over and beat radio’s ass.
This really sucks. Adam Carolla, Frosty, Heidi, and Frank, Danny Bonaduce, Tom Leykis, Tim Conway jr….these guys were great! This station was great. Now, it’s being taken away….this really sucks. Today and tomorrow is going to be depressing…
A sad day for all fans. The station was one different, great, and entertaining. Now it’s going to be a staition that blends in and gets lost. We will miss all you guys!!
I think it’s so sad that 97.1 is canceling these shows, especially since LA has enough top 40-type stations. It was just nice to have other options other than Ryan Seacrest, Rick Dees, and even Kevin and Bean in the morning… And then, of course, Tom, in the afternoon. I’ll definitely miss them all.
At 7 when i left work on Friday, i turned onto 97.1 and i heard Flo-Rida’s “lo” song. As if this song isn’t on 10 other stations playing the exact same thing! What the hell were they thinking cancelling this show? They say it was a business decision but it doesn’t make sense to me. There was drama in the last few hours of the show, accusations that this was Leykis’s doing. Leykis doens’t give a shit about his listeners though, he could care less but only to get paid.
This was a total mistake.. and it was a sad day for me.. i’d been listening to this station sine my teens in high school.. when Howard was on. This was a sad day for me
