David Letterman announced at Monday’s taping of Late Night with David Letterman that he recently married his girlfriend of 23 years, Regina Lasko.
Before reading his Top Ten list he told the audience,
“On Thursday, at 3 p.m., March 19, 2009, at the Teton County Courthouse in Choteau, Montana, I was married to Regina Lasko. Regina and I began dating in February of 1986, and I said, ‘Well, things are going pretty good, let’s just see what happens in about ten years . . . I had avoided getting married pretty good for, like, 23 years, and I, honestly, whether this happened or not, I secretly felt that men who were married admired me. Like I was the last of the real gunslingers, you know what I’m saying?’”
The trip to the Montana courthouse was anything but romantic. The couple’s truck got stuck in mud and Dave had to walk 2 miles back to the house with 50-mile-an-hour winds pounding away at him.
He described the scenario, “It’s not Beverly Hills, it’s Montana. And the whole way, I’m thinking, ‘See, smart ass, see you try to get married and this is what happens.”
Letterman and Lasko met while she was working for him back in 1986. The couple had a child, Harry in 2003.

I think he was born to be a grumpy old man and loves when things go wrong so he can opine his Cantankerous bloody-minded, stubborn, obstinate, obstructive, unwilling to cooperate and uncooperative appreciation of I found someone who really loves me and wanted to have my child and he really respects and loves her back story in his own way too.
