Adam Lambert’s performance of Mad World on American Idol last night.
It was birth year performances for the remaining 8 on the show. Adam’s year was 1982 and he chose the eerie, haunting song by Tears for Fears, ‘Mad World.” (Actually yes, readers, it was Gary Jules who did the “emo” version!)
I love this guy! He’s totally different and can definitely put his own spin on anything.

People are freaking out that he did the Gary Jules version of the song insted of the Tears for Fears. I thought that it was good. I still kinda want to hate him for some reason, but that migth just be the cynical bitch in me.
Omg…I absolutely love everything that comes out his mouth…he can sing, period. If he doesn’t win, something is wrong…

I thought there was only the Tears for Fears version. Then I later found out that there was indeed another arrangement by Gary Jules.

The Jules version is the sad version of Madworld and probably is a good one for singing contests like American Idol. If Adam did the Tears for Fears version, the judges might see it as just “karaoke” singing.
This is a great performance by Adam, cant wait to watch him perform tonight, I have no doubt it will be amazing.
