Joan Rivers was chosen over Annie Duke as this year’s Celebrity Apprentice.
Donald Trump picked Joan for reasons I still can’t seem to wrap my mind around. She was a farking emotional wreck throughout the most of the show! She threw glasses, she called people awful names, she constantly threatened to quit.
Meanwhile Annie was working her ass off and was raising a lot of money for charity. Almost to a fault. She had one thing, and only one thing, on her mind. Winning. She completed each task beautifully, wasn’t distracted by emotions and although she was direct and sometimes brash, she outclassed Joan throughout this competition.
My hubby commented, “Trump favors Joan”, just before she was announced the winner. I had to agree. As did Celebrity Smack reader Cherie who sent me this email after watching the Celebrity Apprentice finale. It seems she felt exactly the same way I did.
Dear Spicy,
I am so mad about the outcome of Celebrity Apprentice. Am I the only one to notice that the ticket challenge specifically
said tickets were to be sold on the street to the average, everyday people? Joan’s team sold all their tickets to one wealthy person and then gave the tickets away. What is the challenge in that? And it specifically violated the instructions.
Donald Trump overlooked this violation of his instructions because it is clear he favored Joan Rivers. He tells Jessie
James to “Be Nice”, but let Joan Rivers act emotional and unprofessional. She talked over Annie at every turn.At least America saw her lie when she said she had nothing to do with the event planner quitting. She was also told she would be assigned an event planner, and she brought in her own designer, telling the assigned planner her guy could give him some ideas on how to decorate. I did think it was unfair to Annie that this guy owned the event planning company and refused to let his employee plan Annie’s event.
Also, I have heard that Blane Trump is on the board of Joan’s charity. Can we say conflict of interest? Annie was the clear winner no matter what Donald Trump says. Joan claimed she raised her money honorably. I see nothing honorable in Joan Rivers. Donald Trump clearly favored her.
I am still on “Team Annie”, no matter what Donnie says.
Cherie R.
What do you think about the Celebrity Apprentice finale? Do you think Joan deserved to win?

Spicy…
I am so mad! I cannot sleep, I am so angry!
Joan Rivers???
That woman proved over and over again throughout the season that she has no class whatsoever! She is rude, mean, and has no honor. She lied repeatedly and was absolutely unprofessional thoughout the entire season!
She made a comment that she was an example of modern business and where it is headed these days. So true. So sad.
Annie, on the other had, was amazing! She was successful in raising money for not only her charity, but others’ as well. She was (almost) always classy, honest, and professional. All the while being treated horribly by Joan and her spoiled brat of a daughter!
To be fired because of this one task which (as pointed out by another reader) was not rated fairly, is ridiculous.
We all need to take a look at Donald AND Joan. Although Joan has never been given much a place of respect in my book, she is now even lower. Donald, whom I did have some respect for, has lost what he had. Not that he cares how anyone without mega millions feels.
Annie may not have won Celebrity Apprentice, but she showed the world that she is a winner… even if Dumb Donald is too in love with Joan to see it!
Dawnthemomx4
I haven’t seen the finale yet because i live in germany…but i LOVE Joan Rivers. I can’t stand Annie. She is an Arrogant Bitch who thinks her shit dosen’t stink and that she can do NO wrong. Just like Joan Rivers said…Annie can do anything and everything…she can even walk on water!” LOL
my in-laws forced me to watch last night and it was all i had seen of the season. that being said, i was team joan from the start. she is a feisty, smart old lady who held her own against a woman much younger than her. something that really stuck with me was how annie kept telling ANYONE who was within earshot all the bad stuff joan had done. even tom green was irritated by annie’s inability to STFU about joan. and honestly, i don’t think donald obviously favored one over the other. there were many times last night that he appeared to favor annie. i’m glad joan won.
What a joke the show is turning into on TV. I always knew Trump had his favorite from the begining, but Rivers turned out to be an embaressment. She quit when her daugher got fired, then came back. She was less then honorable toward Annie and Brandi, then has the stones to call herself honorable? Plus Annie raise more money on all tasks. The only person worse then Rivers was Rodman and he has a drinking problem. Proud of Jesse for not using his wife.
I could care less about the show…haven’t watched one of them.
Joan used to be a very good comedian…don’t know what happened to her. Maybe it is because she had her daughter???? Also have to say she looks like Donald Ducks Mother…..
I’m so upset with Mr. Trump as he was bias toward Joan from the start. He was afraid he would lose face with his colleagues or business
associates. It was more for future business. He sided with Joan at the meeting allowing Joan to interupt Annie everytime she tried to explain her side; however Annie allowed Joan to speak. Joan lied, was deraugertory remarks and showed how ill mannered she is along with her daughter Melissa. Joan may be talented but what role model can she play. I’m 75 and can outwork her
however I know my career days are numbered and so is hers. Annie by far was the better choice.
I hope this issue comes back to haunt Mr. Trump.
I’ve lost my respect for Mr. Trump because it was clear and it all appeared corrupt or staged. It is over, but he lost a viewer from here on out.
Thank you. Ed
Trump and his possee seemed willing to ignore River’s violations of the rules they specified in the final task. They pretended they didn’t know how River’s harassed the event planer, causing them to quit, which then put Dukes at a disadvantage at no fault of her own. In fact, Rivers knew the event planner quit long before Dukes, which gave Rivers an unwarranted advantage. That said, the decision to name a psychotic whack job like Rivers made the finale a joke.
I like Joan Rivers but thought she and her daughter were disgraceful. What has Melissa ever done, really! Annie was not much better in the way she continued to speak badly about Joan, micromanage Tom Green, speak badly about him until she saw his work but she clearly deserved to win. She raised the most money, worked the hardest, followed the rules but yet Donald Trump had the nerve to say that Joan was a role model. In who’s world and for what! Well it is only a TV show!
I thought Joan played a much better game than the poker player in the final task. It was like she saved up all her strategy for when it counted.
Annie on the other hand played terrible. She could raise money, but that only gets you so far.
I think Annie should have one! I can’t stand the way Joan handled the Design team. Why didn’t they focus on that. Donald had to have heard about this before the live event.
I’ve always been a big fan of this show, but part way through I started feeling uncomfortable as it looked more and more rigged. By last night it was blatantly obvious. Even Piers was obviously saying what he’d been told, as he knows that the final judgement is based on performance from the start. And even to suggest that 3 out of five is a win is absurd, as it was never said that each criterion was of equal weight, nor should it be.
Even with her “win” Joan Rivers raised less money for charity on that task than Duke.
The question now: will Annie Duke sue Joan Rivers for slander (or is it libel) for her outrageously absurd personal attacks? Looks like a slam dunk.
In any case, millions of people will have a hard time ever again laughing at such a mean-spirited and unethical person as Joan Rivers. My personal respect for her and her carbon-copy daughter has gone from very high to non-existent. And while I’ve always been a big Trump fan in the past, that respect has evaporated.
Back in the 1950’s there was a very popular prime time TV game show called “The $64,000 Question”. But then there was a major scandal when it turned out that the game was fixed. People turned off TV game shows and they disappeared from prime time for decades.
Could the same thing happen here? There’s a serious stink to this show. It looked rigged from early on and the finale was so removed from any rationality that it sure looks fixed. If people believe that it was, it could spell the end for the show, as well as other “reality” shows, just as quiz shows fell into disrepute. Mark Burnett should be very nervous now.
Lucky Eddie said it best. Let’s hope so. Reality TV was fun for a while, but its so predictable and scripted now, I think its time it came to an end.
Joan won for two reasons, US based charity and Annie had already forked in a considerable amount of money for her charity.
I began to greatly dislike Annie throughtout the season, I thought she was a major bitch. (How strong women are often refered to). But it was clear from the first couple of episodes that Joan was going to win this game, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a requirement in her contract. Donald obviously favored her in many challenges, did not hold her to the same expectations and accountability for her actions that he did other contestants. For instance, the losing project manager is ALMOST always the person ‘fired’, this was not the case when Joan’s team lost under her supervision. I think both women should be ashamed of some of their behavior, but I think Annie should have won.
Annie might be a great poker player but she could not win when she is playing with a deck stacked by Trump. There couldn’t be better odds than selecting a mother and daughter scam team to play against individuals. Trump obviously had the winner picked prior to airing the first episode of a contest that was as phony as his hair. This might improve his ratings but I will never waste my time in watching a joke like this again.
My opinion is logic and proof should prevail.
Fact 1 – Evidence
This TV show has taped evidence of all of the information we need. Granted this is just a TV show but to hide the truth and bend the rules to support Joan Rivers is wonky. Besides we witnessed much of the bad behavior.
Fact 2 – Fair Play
Sure you are trying to get ratings and spice up the show – we understand. But let’s not forget you roasted Rodman on public TV for being an alcoholic, and threw out Khloe Kardasian for her DUI conviction even though she was owing up to it. I guess being a mean foul mouthed old comedian is different. Saying someone is worse than Hilter is okay as long as she is not saying it about you right Donald.
Fact 3 – Delusional
Donald you called Joan a role model – my question is “What is she a role model for? Is it for being 75 or is it for being rude, nasty and demeaning? Is it because she has energy or is it because she talks over everyone else, has childish temper tantrams and calls people all sorts of nasty names? Is it because she says she is honorable or is it that she is horrible and the whole world knows. Anyone can claim to be something and in Joan’s case it’s honorable. Good God now that’s delusional.
Fact 4 – The Fix
It is obvious Donald you picked her to win early on – too bad . I liked your show but sadly will no longer watch because of the fix you just showed us. Here’s hoping the rest of the TV audience will see through this sham and punish you through the ratings by choosing to not watch you show again. Nice touch by the way to have your puppet Pierce speak – I almost didn’t see you pulling his strings.
Finally – An Apology
And by the way Joan you owe the world an apology for being so nasty. Thank god my mother knows how to act at 75 – unlike you..
I want to thank everyone who has mentioned the obvious. I thought I was alone with the shock I saw last night. I know it’s just a reality show but I did enjoy watching the talent and their tasks but at 10:58 PM 5/10/09 I turned it off. I felt for Annie when Mr. Trump said “Annie you know what I’m going to say”, and Annie started to looked excited, then he said “Annie, you’re fired” The TV went off and that’s it for me for the Celebrity Apprentice from here on out.
It was sickening to watch and hear Joan River’s awful self righteous statements throughout the show and to watch her little minion Melissa dragged around behind her mother. If it wasn’t for Joan, Melissa would be working at some sandwich shop, probably eating more than she would serve. Was it just me or every time they cut to Melissa she was always eating something?
Well Joan River’s surprised me with just how shallow, possibly demented another human can be with her lies, tantrums, rants and selfish behavior. She was even an embarrassment to her daughter but then again where is Melissa going to go. Maybe Joan is very angry over her plastic surgery, which I would understand.
Now for Annie, she clearly played the game superbly. She played smart and the best of any past players. Last season I really liked Trace Adkins and wanted him to win but Piers did play a better business game and was chosen the winner, understandable.
Oh well I guess that’s that. Annie was the clear winner, and I hope Joan and Melissa will be out of sight for a long while. There’s no place in this world for Joan and Melissa’s hatred.
Hang in there Annie hope we see you again very soon.
This show is a disgrace to anyone who has any intelligence. I can’t believe I watched it like a stooge only to find out it was fixed. It was painfully obvious Annie won the contest and Joan alienated the event planner, they did not sell the tickets on the street etc. Not to mention Joan should have been fired after the first auction failed due to her management of placing people and not raising the most money. Trump is in bed with her –
Many managers have huge egos and whether you like Annie or not she exceeded in every task she managed or was given. It seemed like just because Joan said Annie was ….”…..” it was taken as truth – when in fact Joan was caught in plenty of lies but when it was ever mentioned she would just start screaming over the other person – this is her way – deny, accuse, speak loudly – yeah – that’s class alright – if she is a role model we’d have a lot of problems. I can’t believe that any charity would want her as a spokesperson – I’d never give to anything that wretched old bag touches. She is vile. Annie did win and I think this will come out. NBC should scratch the show – it speaks badly of their ethics.
I’m glad Joan won. I couldn’t stand Annie. Too bossy, even when she wasn’t the project manager. Annie fans don’t be disappointed, I think Trump will bring her back on subsequent shows as the new Omarosa!
Joan Rivers and her daughter were a total disgrace and should have been disqualified early on. And talking of trash….
For anyone to say that Annie was worse because of being bossy, but to not think equally as badly for the way Joan acted makes no sense. Joan might not have said I quit but she did say she was not going to have that, grabbed her stuff and was obviously quitting. Anyone who has hinted of quitting in the past got fired. No one has the right to treat anyone like that. I wanted Joan to win until I seen how she began to act. And for anyone to say it is not all about the money….. well I thought that was the purpose of the show once they decided to bring in the celebrities. Everyone should have been 100% focussed on getting as much money as they could for all the charities as much as possible. Annie topped everyone. For someone who some people call a nobody, she sure knew how to get the money in. Pretty pathetic that Joan could not raise more than $150,000 on a three hour finale show. Especially when she is good friends with Donald and has a lot of connections in New York being she lives there.
What a sham!
There’s the charity connection in that Joan’s charity has a board member named Trump, Donald’s sister-in-law.
Another strong point is that the exec producer of Celebrity Apprentice is the same producer for Joan Rivers’ new show “How’d You Get So Rich?” Mark Burnett. That show will air late summer.
Sheesh, do you think they cold-decked Duke?
That was such a horrible outcome. At times the show just outright uncomfortable to watch with all the venom and name calling on the part of Joan and her daughter. It felt like Celebrity Springer. It was classless and complete hypocrisy.
What is the criteria for winning that darned show? I thought they set the precedent with Piers last year. Its a business. Its about the charity. On top of that, Trumps kids both attest that Annie played the game perfectly and raised by far the most money.
Then he goes and fires her. What a sham.
I am glad that Joan won. I think that there are many Annie supporters who are sore losers. Annie also seems like a sore loser, though hopefully she’ll get over that.
Annie actually didn’t play the game perfectly. She made the final task about Joan, whereas Joan made her final task about the charity. Joan was like on cloud 9 after completing her task, whereas Annie still looked pissed off.
Annie’s charity video didn’t move me. Joan’s did.
I don’t think the outcome was fixed, and I don’t think that the story with Trump’s sister-in-law has anything to do with the result.
I think that if Trump favored Joan, it was largely because Joan’s charity was more worthy, particularly among most Americans. At least Piers’s charity last season was very American as well. Annie’s charity was not. I think that’s a big part of why Annie was not chosen.
Joan is the bitch she portrayed. How anyone can look at her as a role model probably has psychological problems themselves. Annie is far more educated and classier than the Rivers of vile.
Get out of her Va-Gina you Nazi loving fanatic.
I couldn’t believe no one called Joan on her holier-than-thou attitude about charity during the last board room!
Wasn’t Joan the one who screamed “I don’t want to hear this charity nonsense” on the episode where Melissa got kicked off?
K*, yes. It was Joan who said that. There was only one two faced person on the show, Joan Rivers.
Tom Who? There is a reason Tom Green does not have his own show. He attempted to make jokes all the time. These were more like remarks a husband makes when he wants to piss off his wife and thinks he is deleriously funny. The Kodak Rep is trying to explain the criteria and there was Tom with a barrage of stupid questions…”Can we have one?…Do we get one for free?….over and over and over. It was clear the Kodak Rep was getting irritated. Annie didn’t have time to pat Tom’s little head and talk nice. She was right to tell him to STFU. Not a funny guy.
Regarding the game being potentially fixed…the connection with Trump’s EX-sister-in-law is not even a good one, so that logic just doesn’t fly. I’m surprized that so many upset Annie fans don’t know that. They just hear the last name Trump associated with Joan’s charity and go around touting that the show was fixed.
the fix was in from day one. Joans contract was for her to win {im sure}
Joan argued with everyone. Called clint Black names, then said she loves him…sure! Loves Rodman, why he wouldnt know this 79 year old crazy wacky disgusting white woman from anything anywhere or at anytime in his life.
when they brought Joan back, i knew it was for the finale. and this way she and her monkey faced daughter could get more tv time to scream and rant.
and to say the 5 criteria are of equal weight on the final task is a farce.
selling 80 tikets to cirque du solel , and having celebrities at your event and how the room looks is equal to the money you raise…thats a bunch of BS.
its about the fundraising which annie wiped up Joan 3 to 1= 450K to 150K, .
I will never buy from QVC nor will I donate to anything Joan rivers is related to.
…its no wonder Edgar committed suicide, imagine having to put up w/ Joan, that mystery is now solved.
and also Joan being fired from E tv and TV guide channel is seen as justified now after watching this awful, morally corrupt, hypocrite of a person.
I’m so glad to hear that most people saw what I saw. I immediately told my husband that I’ll never watch apprentice again. I wouldn’t have expected that type of behavior from Trump. And, yes, it had to have been in their contracts that Joan and Melissa would go to the end because Melissa accused the producers of being “liars” in her rants when she got fired. You can hear it amongst the bleeps. Those two women are just plain gross. I don’t think I could ever go out in public again if I were either of them, I’d be completely embarrassed. I’m a bit embarrassed for Trump as well. He made himself look like an idiot as well. Too bad. It used to be an entertaining show. I hope there are more people who won’t condone this behavior by Joan, Melissa or Trump. Boycott them all!
Yep, I agree Steve. When they decided to change The Apprentice to The Celebrity Apprentice it was about who could get the most money. Donald even said it himself last season which is why he chose Piers even though so many disliked him and felt he should have lost just because of who he was. But based on Donald’s statements Piers clearly won and therefore he named him The Apprentice. The changes made this time were only to give Joan a fighting chance. But you still can not get away from the fact that The Celebrity Apprentice is all about making the most money for charity. People at first did not like it when Donald named Piers the winner last season but then later people gave a lot of credit to Donald for making the best decision as per his own words. This time he did not hold true to that which is why so many are speaking out about it. His own students say that this had to have been a better business decision for other reasons because based on the criteria of the show by itself Donald clearly should have picked Annie.
I will not watch the show either. I have a right to feel how I want and if there are enough people disgusted with this show and we stop watching it, then the show will be no more. I also hope Joan’s new show fails.
Blaine Trump is the Vice Chair on the Board of Directors of Gods Love We Deliver.org
It’s right on their website.
http://www.godslovewedeliver.org/about_directors.html
I sent them an email about the sad behavior of their spokeswoman.
Bet she doesn’t call the poor, sick white people that she delivers meals to
that she despises “White Trash”. She is benevolent when it suits her.
Unforgivable! Did they honestly think we were all so stupid as to not see the blatant set up for Joan and her idiot daughter? Not only will I never watch this show again, but I will boycott anything and everything to do with the people who pulled this scam on us.
Yeah I’m sure Kodak just loved the tranny theme at the party. There is no way Rivers would have received better praise than Annie in that regard. I’m sure the Kodak guy just hated it.
The show was rigged and Annie got hosed.
Best line from the whole season. Someone said to Trump:
“Your hair is iconic.” LOL.
>
It is very obvious that Joan Rivers did NOT WIN,
it was handed to her.
Joan has a new televison series starting that is produced by the same people who produce Celebrity Apprentice.
The fix was in.
I certainly won’t watch again!
<
i really don’t understand mr Trump’s rationale and I normally always did during the show, it was easy to almost predict his decisions, being it all based on rational grounds, true performance or personal conduct of the contestants. Until now.
I read a lot of comments on other blogs about this show being a fix and I honestly think that it is. It must be. There must be a bigger reason for mr. Trump to choose this raving lunatic (who thinks she is mother Theresa, give me a break) over Annie. If I was an NBC exec I would seriously scratch my ears and rethink my decision to continue this farce for one more season. I would also investigate and make sure that there is absolutely no fix happening here, because it could turn out to be quite bad for NBC’s reputation.
The whole season mr Trump is all brains and in the finale he pulls a chicken out of his ass. Unbelievable, I haven’t been so surprised in a really long time.
To me this was the real evidence of the setup:
Piers, who i really respected all through last season really kissed mr. Trumps ass on this one, or knew about what mr. Trump was going to do and just wanted to be on the right side. Piers and Annie are similar characters, both nice in person but tough respectable fighters during the challenge. Piers would have made a compelling argument for her, if he hadn’t been told who to choose or what to do, or knew what was going to happen. Somehow he was influenced into coming up with that poor excuse to choose Joan, without giving it much thoughts.
All in all it is still very weird to see mr Trump not sticking to his own rules.
If I was Annie I would sue Joan for slander on national tv. She has a big case and would most probably win.
I too believe that this show had to be rigged. I have lost all respect for Joan Rivers and her daughter. To show such a lack of class on national tv is a disgrace. The blatant lies, overtalking and hurling of hysterically toned insults is a showcase of how our society is evolving. She who screams loudest, acts the most demeaning, wins !
Annie acted with class and dignity and represented plain folk in an exemplary fashion. I have the upmost respect for her and all of her associates that so generously gave to her cause.
I just want to point out that Joan spit on the same people that put money in her pockets when she said the demeaning remarks about Vegas. I hope that she is never welcome back on the Vegas circuit after this embarrasment. Talk about being two sided.
Lastly, I must say to Donald Trump. Before you say that Joan is a role model, look to your left at the boad table. Your daughter is more of a role model to women than that 75yr old washed up comedian could ever be.
