Michael Jackson’s sister, Janet Jackson, made a surprising speech at the 2009 BET Awards after losing her brother.
In what I think was the only highlight of the night’s show, Michael’s sister paid tribute to her older brother, in a touching speech where she remembered her late sibling.
Janet and Michael were always close, and I am sure losing him will affect her greatly. I can relate as I too, have lost a brother.
She said, “To you, Michael is an icon, to us, he is family.” I have no question that Janet loved Michael, and it showed in her face as she spoke to the crowd.
This is such a tragedy I have been in prayer for the Jackson family. I am not mourning over Michael from the perspective of a fan. I mourn Michael from the unfortunate way that he died. I had a close family member who died the same way that Michael did. The person dies but you have to live with the thought that you might have, could have, and should have done more to help you love one with the issues that caused the persons death. I have been praying that God gives the Jackson family strength in this unfortunate time and that they are able to have a forgiving heart, not only towards the person that may have been involved with causing Michaels death but they also able to forgive their selves for all of the what if’s that I am sure have been coming up in there thoughts. Michael is in the arms of God alone with his idol the godfather of soul James Brown and it is a place that we all have to go to. I pray that we as the fans take an inventory of our lives and ask ourselves the question that if it was your time right now who you by your faith in God and you love towards others is ready to meet Jesus? And when you stand in front of God the father would he say well done my good and faithful servant enter in. I am praying that lives be won for Jesus through this tragedy. Right now you can receive Jesus as your lord and savoir if you haven’t done so already. I think that this would be the best thing that we could do to horror Michael’s memory.
