Some updated news on the murder of Steve McNair:
[LATEST UPDATE, added 7/8/09 at 12pm PST: : TMZ is reporting that Tennessee assistant medical examiner, Dr. Feng Lee, says that preliminary tests suggest that Steve McNair was shot and killed by Sahel Kazemi. Gunpoweder was present on her hands.]
Things are getting more bizarre in the case of Steve McNair and his girlfriend Sahel Kazemi. New developments include: friends saying that McNair never had intentions of leaving his wife (shocking – not), police confirming that McNair was shot while sitting upright on a couch, and a proof that a third person really might be involved in this.
According to a friend of the ex-football star, Robert Gaddy, McNair was NOT set to get a divorce with his wife as the cousin of Sahel Kazemi had implied. Instead the couple were selling their home and buying a new one, with no plans of a split. He claims poor Mechelle McNair never saw it coming.
Gaddy, who has known McNair since his college days, said: “People need to quit talking about what they don’t know. Mac never said anything to me about he was going to get a divorce, and ever since this has all happened everybody is trying to paint a certain picture and they need to talk about what they know.”
According to early reports, McNair’s young mistress, Sahel, a 20-year-old waitress, told friends she and McNair had plans to marry. However, two days before their deaths she purchased a gun. THE gun that was used in the murder.
Most bizarre is that McNair’s wife reportedly didn’t know where her husband was for the two days leaving up to his death. Also, we are now learning that McNair’s life was threatened at a local bar the night before the murders and even Sahel’s ex-boyfriend, Keith Norfleet, may be involved somehow. He told the Tennessean, that he had visited McNair’s condo the DAY OF the murders, but has yet to say why. Also,
his MySpace page dissed McNair and said “RIP Sahel Kazemi.” [Read more at Sports by Brooks, it's a great article.]
Police spokesman Don Aaron said in a press conference that the athlete was found with two bullet holes in his head and two in his chest. McNair was most likely caught off guard before being shot. Aaron adds, “He was seated on his sofa in the living room.”
One news source located a parking lot surveillance camera at the condo where the death took place. Sahel is seen pulling into the parking lot at 1 or 2:00 AM in the Escalade that McNair had purchased for her.
So the mystery deepens, and if the police have an inkling as to what exactly happened – they aren’t letting us in on it. But the new details can’t help you wonder what REALLY happened that night. And with the police’s reluctance to label it a murder/suicide, some other factors must be involved. We are just going to have to wait this one out.
