Professional boxer Arturo Gatti, 37, was murdered by his wife Amanda Rodrigues, 23, in Brazil Saturday morning after the couple were involved in a drunken fight.

The couple had gone out Friday night and partied at a bar. At some point they began arguing. That’s when, according to Rodrigues, her husband hit her, knocking her to the ground. The fight lasted until after they returned home to their rented apartment.

Later, as Arturo slept, Amanda took her purse and strangled him to death with it’s strap. She then spent 10 hours in the room with his dead body before contacting anyone. She claims she didn’t know he was dead.

Police say Amanda is the only suspect.

I wonder, was it self-defense? But still, why not just leave instead of murdering someone? And if he really did hit her, why didn’t she call the police instead of killing him?

What is up with 2009, people!? Everyone is crazy! People are dropping like flies, and most of the deaths are completely avoidable. Insanity!
