Michael Vick Reinstated

Michael Vick has been reinstated to the NFL – under certain conditions.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reinstated Vick Monday, specifying that he will be able to particpate in practices, workouts and meetings starting immediately. He is also allowed to play in the preseason’s final two games. He may be able to play in regular season games as early as October. If he can find a team who will sign him, that is.

Goodell stated in a letter to Vick:

“Needless to say, your margin for error is extremely limited. I urge you to take full advantage of the resources available to support you and to dedicate yourself to rebuilding your life and your career. If you do this, the NFL will support you.”

Vick has responded to the reinstatement via his agent:

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to commissioner Goodell for allowing me to be readmitted to the National Football League,” Vick said through agent Joel Segal. “I fully understand that playing football in the NFL is a privilege, not a right, and I am truly thankful for the opportunity I have been given.
As you can imagine, the last two years have given me time to re-evaluate my life, mature as an individual
and fully understand the terrible mistakes I have made in the past and what type of life I must lead moving forward.
Again, I want to thank the commissioner for the chance to return to the game I love and the opportunity to become an example of positive change.”

I always say that people deserve a second chance, but man, this one is hard for me. I am such an animal lover. And seeing photos of dogs who have been used in dog fighting makes me sick to my stomach and immediately makes me want to say ‘no, he doesn’t deserve it.’

But I do hope he can take this situation and truly make something positive of it. I hope he understands the serevity of what he did and is truly remorseful. I’d love to see him campaign for animal rights.

Do you think he will be signed? Or better yet – do you think he deserves to be?

He deserves a second and last chance. As far as I know he hasn’t had any legal trouble prior to this. He did actual prison time and lost all his money so he isn’t walking around like he got away with something. How many players before him had DUI’s, beat their wives, or shot people and still got to play?? So as long as he learned that no one is above the law and keeps himself out of trouble I say a second chance is fine. The Giants and Jets don’t need quarterbacks so they are a non-issue anyways.

Well, those poor dogs he used received no second chance.. I am glad I already hate football. I cannot imagine anyone who loves animals giving this monster a second chance at anything. And you can bet he did not learn jack, accept maybe how to cover his tracks better next time.

Shame on the NFL for the reinstatement. I hope no team signs this loser.

He’s a sick and brutal person and I don’t think anyone should give him a second chance. He made a pre-meditated choice to train, bet on and watch innocent animals viciously attack each other..it was a game to him, pleasure. WTF is that??? Then just dumps them in a pit when all is done. That’s a line crossed that shouldn’t have been and I could never find it in my heart to forgive him….he IS an animal.

Sorry, but I have no compassion for this idiot. He was only sorry when he got caught. Anyone who can do what he did to those dogs is not fit to be around people or animals. Bad enough he tortured and killed his own fighting dogs but then his people went around grabbing other people’s pets to use as bait for the fighting dogs. Anyone that wants to give this guy a second chance, needs to go to Dogtown and see the animals he tortured.

I can’t forgive him! His acts were tooooo brutal against those poor dogs. Shame on the NFL for seeing dollar signs. This guy should have never been let back in. He does not deserve a second chance. He knew what he was doing. What kind of animal is he?

  • BlueWill

He wants a second chance based on remorse and repentance. He’s not remorseful or repentant.
Rod Crossfield says it best on his last blog; Michael Vick doesn’t believe he did anything wrong.

Mass flood any team that signs him and their advertisers, what he did was savage, sadistic and went far beyond dog fighting – educate yourselves about what he really was doing to those dogs, the horrors of dog fighting were nothing compared to his psychopathy.

My one true hope is that he suffers a horrendous accident and he won’t be able to play and he dies in poverty at a very old age.

Remember you can make a difference, you can call the team he signs with – and the advertisers, money does talk. Consumers wield power in this economy.
