Kanye West apologizes on Jay Leno
On Jay Leno’s premiere of ‘The Jay Leno Show’ Kanye West just happened to be a scheduled guest.
And after the controversy yesterday with West rushing the stage as Taylor Swift accepted an award at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), the timing couldn’t be better.
Of course we couldn’t wait to hear what he had to say.
The first thing Jay said to Kanye was “Thank you for honoring this commitment, a lot of times people . . . things happen and they kinda back out at the last minute or they have a publicist or someone call and say, ‘Oh, I’m sorry, my client is not available.’ So thank you for coming and doing this in light of all the things going on.”
Agreed on that part. At least Kanye showed up. But it’s not like he is one to turn down any major publicity..
Kanye then went on to apologize, saying that he knew almost immediately what he did was wrong. Jay asked him to elaborate, and Kanye said it was when he returned the microphone to Taylor.
Then for the “deep” Kanye. Jay told Kanye that he knew his late mother, Donde West. He then pulled a Larry King and asked Kanye, “What do you think she [Donde] would have said about this?” Ouch. I think that one had to have stung.
Then it gets quiet. Kanye never looks up. He fidgets, he’s sweating. For a few moments the only thing he manages to say is, “Um.”
Watch the video and then tell me, do you think he was sincere? And if he was sincere, do you think it was because he realizes what he did wrong – or simply because of the backlash?

It wasn’t really an apology so much as embarrassed excuses, I work to hard, my mom died – oh and I’m hung over! He’s a very unimpressive man, and at the end of the day that’s what you really learned about Kanye. He’s a sniveling weasel who has the social skills of a bratty 4 year old who seemed less than sincere and couldn’t wait to jump up and run away like a child. Maybe he should lay off the liquid courage in public.
Rhianna looked like she would rather be on Mars being beaten by Chris Brown than on stage with him, she could barely muster up any enthusiasm for the performace. I think she was embarrassed to share the stage with him. It was pitiful.
He’s getting way too much attention for this, which is what he wants! I wish everyone would have just ignored his ass.
i don’t think he expected the backlash, esp the backlash from celebrities. you know hearing all those celebrities speak out against him, scared him since he such a fame whore. he’s done this so many times and usually people just went oh that’s kanye being kanye. but i think seeing taylor swift, who looks so innocent and defenseless just standing there stunned and heartbroken was his downfall. it really was like katy perry said, like stepping on a kitten.
and if he was really sorry he wouldn’t have made such a lame as “apology” on his website.
When celebrities go on public media and apologize to their victim, that is NOT present, that is not an apology but I selfish attempt at damage control.
There’s no sincerity in this fool, just and ego that his handlers have made
go out and apologizes in hopes to minimize the financial impact of the latest in a series of rude, ignorant outbursts.
If you truly find Mr West’s behavior offensive, then prove it. Do not
reach into your wallets and give him your money! Otherwise, no one will listen you your complaints while you’re standing in line to give them money!!!
although i feel that this stunt has gained too much attention, i love kanye as an artist. i don’t know him as a person, many of us don’t.. i think he’s a very controversial artist that people love to hate.. would i say that the act was ridiculous, yes. would i say that we all make mistakes, yes. no his actions oftentimes aren’t excusable and he will reep what he sows one way or another. i do believe his apology was sincere.. as for taylor swift, this is just the beginning of a wealth of fame and success for her..
SHE ROCKS!! although late, she was allowed to live in the moment and i believe it was awesome… its time to stop putting so much emphasis on entertainment and focus on matters that really matter like our country as a whole… time to bury this stunt already!!
Pixie said it right….
I think he’s really hurting and unfortunately this is his way of expressing his hurt by acting out, As would a child, so honestly I can say I think the apology was sincere.
I do not think he is truly sorry about what he did to Taylor, otherwise it would have been said by now without looking like he needs it beat out of him. He is sorry because the VMA’s will most likely ban him next year, and lucky to be invited to any awards show in the future, unless they have an a**hole of the decade award.. then he and that other lil Twit that jumped the stage can share it.
I honestly think he was sincere. He seemed shaken up by this, he did not expect it. He is an arrogant guy yes, but with all this negative publicity I really feel that it has got him really thinking he crossed the line finally. Especially when his late mother, rip, got brought up, he seemed like he was about to cry. And if any of you have any idea about his career you would now that he has changed a lot since she died, listen to his material before and after and look at his persona, it has affected him a lot. While I highly doubt that he will stop being cocky and arrogant, maybe this will wake him up and he will slow it down a couple of notches. But only time will tell.
And like key talks stated above do not let this side track you from the real issues in this country that is what the media tries to do with all this celebrity gossip hour Cr@p. it is non sense let him apologize in person and dead the issue….
whether kanye was sincere or not, none of us will never know because we were not inside his head. However, I do believe that he was as sincere as he could be. When he was questioned about what his mom would think, I believe that he realized at that moment that what he did was cruel. He’s Kanye and Kanye has made mistakes and will continue to make more. It’s just the way humans are- we make bad choices sometimes.
1st step to proving your sincerity : APOLOGIZING IN PERSON TO THE PERSON YOU’VE OFFENDED !
Kanye (as of this morning) STILL hadn’t contacted Taylor or her management !
Sound sincere ?
NOPE.
I used to be a fan of his, but then I kept on losing respect for him, it all started out when he was saying that he’s the King of Pop. He’s an attention whore, so was his mom (God rest her soul), I’m sorry, but they both were attention whores and media junkies. His mom would not of have been ashamed or embarrassed for him…he’s making that all up about her. That apology was 30% sincere, the rest was out of trying to win back the public’s respect of him, which I’m sure that he’s lost a good majority of it. I’m from Chicago and it’s people like him that make me embarrassed to be from here. He’ll never learn, he’ll do this over and over and over again. The only way he can be stopped is if people stop caring, people stop buying into that bullsh!t. I’m not a huge Taylor Swift fan, but I do have respect for her, because she’s so young and writes her own songs, worked hard to get to where she is, is a sweetheart (my friends met her and they all agree that she’s a sweetheart), this was her moment, she even said that she’s always dreamed of holding a moon man, that moment was just so ruined by that bigoted ass*hole, I hope that karma bites him up the a$$ and soon! He needs to be put to an end.
I wish it was 50 cent on the stage………haha i would have loved to watch tha smack down
Okay. I know Kanye’s a jackass and he’s done stuff like that before but he’s NEVER apologized in the past either. Maybe it was backlash that made him do it…maybe it was sincere guilt. But unless you’ve lost a parent you don’t have ANY idea the turmoil people go through. It seems like bashing on Taylor Swift and losing his mother have nothing to do with each other (and they really don’t), but when you’re living a life of hurt you really don’t notice who you’re hurting around you. I know he was drinking before, during, and after the awards (which doesn’t help), but I’m not going to judge him for that either. He is a human being…he’s not a superhero. Chris Brown beat his girlfriend and everyone swooned over his apology but this man who is visibly shaken and hurting just gets attacked. We need to be objective. He called Taylor Swift and he apologized. He apologized on Leno and in his blog. The guy could apologize until his face turns blue and you would still think the same of him. Not one person can ever say that theyve never said something they regret. I think that he’s most likely right and he should have taken a break after his mom died but he through himself into his work and produced 808s and Heartbreaks in 3 months time! very fast to make an album and almost immediately after his mothers death. I did the same thing after my dad died my junior year of high school. Senior year i made sure i was so busy i was never home and never had time to think or mourn. in many ways i became irrational with my friends for “no reason.” i didnt think i was doing anything wrong. until i graduated and i had a whole summer to think. i cried and was depressed for a whole year after my dads death. so…maybe hes a jackass, but maybe it deeper than that. Just be kind human beings and forgive. he said some shitty things but he didnt physically harm anyone and all he could do was apologize. he did it, you dont accept, so MOVE ON!
We can all see that Kayne was sorry, and that Jay bringing his mom into the interview I believe will really help him to reflect on his true issues. He has not given himself the proper time to grieve. He now needs this time! Pray for him and remember he that is without sin/faults cast the first stone.
I watched the VMA’s with my family and when that situation happened ( Kanye’s ignorance ) my children were upset not alone myself and my wife. I personally attacked his behavior and character on twitter for being so dumb. Look, the industry is not kind to independent companies or artist if they are not making them money and the rule applies to celebs. So long as he makes the money and do what is told by the majors he will have this blown over and continue his days as a complete disgrace to the minority race. The fact of the matter is just as I said it facts……The only way this changes is you the consumer, not the mindless sheep the majors think you are, demand for changes.
