Susan Boyle sings the Rolling Stones’ Wild Horses
I happened to catch Susan Boyle singing Wild Horses on the finale of America’s Got Talent last night purely by accident.
Although I admit to be a reality show whore, America’s Got Talent just isn’t my cup o’ tea. But nothing happened to be on TV last night and as I scanned the stations I came across the show.
‘Oh, it’s that Susan Boyle chick,’ I thought to myself as I paused on ABC, willing to give her a listen. The only time I have ever heard Susan sing was on YouTube singing Les Miserables’, “I Dreamed a Dream.” Which, is great, but being as I have never seen the Broadway show or heard the song (I know, I know..) it didn’t have much significance to me.
On the flip side..
Hearing Boyle sing the Stones was a jaw dropper for me. I mean, c’mon, the ROLLING STONES? Who can sing a tune of theirs and leave you in awe besides Mick Jagger? Susan Boyle can. And Wild Horses is such a beautiful song. I heard it at a funeral earlier this year and now when I hear it, it has new meaning.
If you haven’t heard it, take a quick listen. It’s beautiful!

her version is fantastic. it’s sad that the entertainment industry is so image driven. cause how can someone who has a voice like her not be a huge star by now.
The song is about a man in great pain as his wife who is dying; as she is comforting and telling him she will meet him in heaven.
I loved Susan Boyle’s performance last night.
Susan is a huge star right now!!!!!! She is a WORLDWIDE STAR!!!!! and yes her version of Wild Horses is Soooo…Beautiful!!! Can’t wait to hear the rest of her album. I know I will drive everyone crazy by playing it over and over again. Can’t get enough of Susan Boyle’s music!!!!!
Haunting and perfect! I didn’t think she could surpass “I Dreamed a Dream” but she has. This song in its simplicity was a version for the ages.
I missed the show on thursday night, but have watched the video several times, and am a HUGE fan of Susan Boyle. Can’t wait for her album to come out in November. I just think she is a shining example of someone who never gave up, and is not afraid to be who she really is.
Susan’s version of WH is a haunting, beautiful, and glorious rendition of this song. However, I’m not surprised at all, having listened to her “Cry Me A River” from ten years ago. Her CD, which will showcase her versatility as a singer, will be a winner and I can’t wait to receive my copy.
Well, I’d say that Susan silenced a lot of her critics with WH. The CD version is even better.
I was shocked when I heard she was doing a cover of the Stones, and never expected anything so beautiful.
She’s an amazing talent. We’re all very lucky that she was finally discovered.
Susan’s version is fantastic, haunting and straight from her soul. Susan knows what love and loss and yearning is. Not just my opinion. Mick Jagger just been quoted as saying it’s better than what they did.
Just to be fair I have listened to all available renditions of Wild Horses, and Susan’s is by far the best! She has made this song her own – a haunting, ethereal, exquisite sound so beautiful that it is breathtaking.
I had never heard this song before Susan sang it. If I had heard the other versions ,I would not have liked it.I have only heard the other versions since Susan sang this song .I love Susan’s Wild Horses. As far as I am concerned it is her song.
Susan’s voice is mesmerizing. I can’t stop listening to her version of Wild Horses, especially her original recording that will be on the album, which is longer and a little different than her stunning AGT performance. She is perhaps the only performer I would travel to see.
