Jaycee Dugard in People magazine
Kidnap victim Jaycee Dugard is coming out of seclusion for the first time in an exclusive People magazine interview.
Dugard, who is now 29, spent nearly 20 years in her abductor’s captivity. Phillip Garrido and his wife held her in a makeshift camp in his backyard while sexually abusing her daily. Dugard eventually had two of Garrido’s children, Angel, 15 and Starlit, 11.
People magazine has published the first photos of Jaycee Dugard since her rescue in August. She is slowly recovering and finds peace in horseback riding and cooking. She is also considering a book deal. Currently she lives at an undisclosed location with her mother, whom she has a strong bond with, and her daughters.
“I’m so happy to be back with my family.” – Jaycee Dugard
Poor thing. After everything that has happened to her, she still has to deal with the unfamiliarity of her true home – and the world. It must be a complete mindf*ck.
Jaycee’s parents split up after her disappearance, because her mother suspected her father was guilty of abducting her. I bet the father is relieved not only that his daughter was found, but that this finally clears him of any wrongdoing.
The technology right now is off the charts compared to 1991. There were barely cell phones back then, certainly no iPods or internet. The world is certainly a much different place.
Hopefully Jaycee adjusts well to her new, free life and doesn’t get harassed too much by the media. It’s about time she lived life the way she wants to live it.
P.S. Does anyone think she looks like Jodie Foster?
The new People magazine hits newsstands Friday.
