The UK’s Daily Mail accused Kate Winslet of lying about her exercise regimen and dubbed her “World’s Most Irritating Actress” earlier this year.
Kate didn’t take it lying down. She went after the gossip rag in court and actually won $40,000. Deservedly so, I say. I think Kate is great.
Kate said of winning the lawsuit:
“I am delighted that the Mail have apologized for making false allegations about me. I was particularly upset to be accused of lying about my exercise regime and felt that I had a responsibility to request an apology in order to demonstrate my commitment to the views that I have always expressed about body issues, including diet and exercise. I strongly believe that women should be encouraged to accept themselves as they are, so to suggest that I was lying was an unacceptable accusation of hypocrisy.”
Good for her. She is standing up for what she believes in. I think whomever wrote the article about her had a chip on their shoulders – or a few too many doughnuts under their ass.
Now had it have been Lindsay Lohan named “Most Irritating Actress,” she wouldn’t have won the lawsuit, because she truly holds the title! So tell me, Smackaholics, who, in your opinion, is the World’s Most Irritating Actress?
For the moment, I will have to go with Megan Fox. I have never seen her in anything, but she still annoys the crap out of me (close your mouth please, Megan). If I considered Lindsay an actual working actress, she would probably rank right up there. Gwyneth is also right up there at the top of the list.
Whoever wrote that was probably on drugs. Kate is delightful.

Forgive me for not knowing anything about British law, but what is their free speech law like? Because they talk about how it’s so much easier for celebs to sue magazines the publish false stories over there. I wish that celebrities could sue the magazines here in the US then maybe some would go under and then we’d get stupid assh**es like Heidi and Spencer out of our lives and actresses like Miss Lohan who have no talent and are only famous for making it in these magazines would have shorter careers.
Nothing wrong with Kate. My choices for most irritating actress Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansen, Katherine Heigl, etc.
Kate got damages from a UK paper over silly stories about her gym routine. She is annoying and has an annoying face too.
But she is a good actress.
I LOVE me some Kate Winslet! She is a great actress and she makes small, quirky movies too (Hideous Kinky, anyone?) Kate is almost has hot as Spicy Pants!
