Suri Cruise Wears High Heels Because She Likes Them

Suri Cruise in her high heels

A debate over whether Suri Cruise should be wearing high heels or not has been sparked on the internet since the 3-year-old was first spotted sashaying around in them.

Some feel the high heels are inappropriate for the toddler, who is said to already be a fashion diva – or just a diva in general. But Katie Holmes defends her daughter’s choice in footwear saying that it’s something every little girl dreams of wearing. And hey, who is she to tell her “No”?

At the Dizzy Feet Foundation event this past weekend Katie was asked about Suri Cruise’s high heels and Katie responded by saying:

“She, like every little girl . . . she loves my high heels.”

“They are actually ballroom dancing shoes for kids. I found them for her and she loves them.”

Well, maybe it’s a good thing she isn’t into corsets and fishnets already. But maybe that will come in another year or two..

Do you think it’s wrong for Suri to wear heels on a regular basis? Or is it completely acceptable for her to wear them as she pleases?

When I was a kid, sure I would put on my mom’s high heels. We all did, but that was called playing dress-up. And the heels I did have that fit me were made of plastic and were, again, for dressing up and pretending that I was a princess. There’s no way wearing heels outside of the home would have been acceptable. Call me old fashioned, but what about when Suri is 6, 8 or 12? Will she still insist on wearing them? And how “appropriate” will it be then?

I think that it’s fine for her to wear them as long as they are not dangerous. I would be worried that they would cause falls or abnormal motor development. I think they’re cute, though.

i agree that it’s a bit inappropriate for suri to wear heels on a daily basis. and not just her, but all toddlers who use a smaller version of adult clothes and shoes. i find that it kind of removes their innocent looks…

I dont see how letting children with growing bodies is appropriate. I would think that wearing high heels daily as a child would be dangerous and could cause problems for them later in life. High Heels cause back problems in alot of woman so why let your child wear them daily? For fun once in awhile is fine, but daily..No. I guess that’s what happens when parents like them never tell their child No. They let their child run the house…They are very strange people.

Her bones are soft and still growing. You can’t be doing that on a regular basis.

Seems as though, if she doesn’t mind wearing them, it’ll get her legs in shape for years of high – heel wearing to come!!!

I find Suri and the attention that she gets….RIDICULOUS. First, she is kind of unfortunate looking. Is that mean, since she is a child? Not really. Sure, she may have cute outfits, cute shoes and an adorable way of drinking her water from a wine glass, but she is still unfortunate looking. You can only dress up a kid so much to make them “adorable”. The attention that surrounds her is preposterous. The issue of her wearing shoes with heels comes from the time honored tradition of her parents being attention-sluts. Of course her parents say that she loves wearing heels. What are they supposed to say? “Suri hates wearing heels and it makes her toes ache, but we have decided to form her into a fashionista and she has absolutely no say in the matter”. That is called, the truth. People don’t like the truth.

I’d also be worried that they might cause alignment or bone problems … I have been boycotting high heels for several years now (except when the outfit DEMANDS them) because they put so much stress on my knees …

The mother clearly doesn’t have the intelligence to understand how a 3 year old’s bones grow and develop to form a perfect beautiful foot. I wouldn’t want to deform my child’s feet. By the time this child is 12 she will probably be weighing up the comparative side effects of Dianette vs Microgynon. Poor little mite.

Sometimes I think Tom and Katie are trying to turn her into another Jon Benet Ramsey.

wow, this is so pointless! let the kid do whatever she wants! and maybe we should focus on other issues like world hunger?? please??

  • kameraobskura

What another person chooses to let their child do as long as it’s not in danger or abusive is no-one’s business except the kid and her parent. As someone else said there are far more pressing things for you all to focus your eager opinions on than whether a child, whose nothing whatsoever to do with any of us, and as far as I can ascertain has a perfectly capable set of parents, does or does not wear. This is trivial nonsense and none of any of our business.

How Suri dress up and how Tom & Katie raises their child is up to them. We don’t want others to criticize us with the way we raise our own children. If we each pay attention to ourselves and what we need to do to better ourselves, instead of pointing fingers at others flaws, this world will actually be better.
Come on people, mind your own business. You should only care if Suri was your own. Let them live their life the way they want and you should live yours.

Agree with Naomi, kameraobskura and desidiva1031.
Any other kids do other funny things, too!
Why don’t you just say that little kids should not ride a horse or a bycicle ’cause they’re potentially dangerous…..
