Brittany Murphy is dead at 32

I hate reporting this, but Brittany Murphy is dead at the tender age of 32.

She apparently died after going into full cardiac arrest at 8:00am this morning. We know that her husband called 911 and that she was pronounced dead on arrival at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles.

I am waiting to hear what exactly caused the cardiac arrest.

Will update this story as I get more information. SO SAD! I can’t help but wonder if an eating disorder or cocaine (I have long suspected she has been into drugs)  played a part in Brittany Murphy’s death. And that husband of hers is just creepy…but I definitely feel for him right now.

UPDATE: Brittany’s mother reportedly discovered her in the shower, unconscious. Paramedics who arrived on the scene determined she was in full cardiac arrest and immediately performed CPR. They continued in the ambulance and all the way to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Los Angeles police department is investigating her death. Brittany’s rep released the following statement: “In this time of sadness, the family thanks you for your love and support. It is their wish that you respect their privacy.”

UPDATE #2: Brittany’s husband, Simon Monjack, does NOT want an autopsy performed. (Just a little suspicious…don’t you think?) However, the LA coroner will perform one, despite his wishes. Thank goodness. This news makes me even more confident that drugs may be partially to blame for her cardiac arrest.. Just sad.

Let me add this… ladies, EAT. Do not EVER let yourself get so thin that your body wants to shut down. Curves are sexy, just ask my friend Julia. (Doesn’t she look fabulous?)

    Hey “Anon!” let’s be honest… the vast majority of 32 year olds don’t just up and drop dead from cardiac arrest. There’s a helluva good chance she was on *something*. That’s no disrespect to the dead, that’s just a fact of life, much less Hollywood.

    So sad. If you look at her career trajectory (http://www.ranker.com/list/brittany-murphy-movies-and-films-and-filmography/reference) it’s pretty clear that something was up these past few years. She hasn’t made a movie I’d want to see since like 2006.

    There’s no speculation – this is going to be a result of drug use. I’m not going to call this tragic, I’m going to call it stupid. How many other celebrities are going to die because of drug use? They obviously don’t take notice of all the dead stars because of cocaine (which I’m sure they’re going to find in her system). So, Anon, go fuck yourself – you’re right on, Spicy.

    So many , probably a majority of hollywood stars are either on drugs or alcohol or both.

    I would be more surprised to hear a celebrity was ‘clean”. Eating disorders can cause death from heart failure, or it could be an undetected heart problem or brain aneurysm. Hard telling. One thing I was curious of though in many pictures her skin appeared to have vitiligo. Don’t know if it was the lighting or what. Not saying that is fatal, but she didn’t appear healthy at all. Still sad to hear when someone with seemingly everything loses it so young….

It has been obvious for years Brittany has (unfortunately) been either on drugs and/or had a drug problem, just look at pictures of her from the Clueless years up until now. Very sad, because she was full of talent and seemed much more down-to-earth than other idiot celebs these days. RIP Brittany…

    It’s just so tragic, she was very talented. Whatever the reason she was young and did have a career, friends and family who right now are in shock and heartbroken. She was always a favorite because she was talented. It’s such a young age to die…

    One of the first pictures of Brittany Murphy I saw today on MSN was a “scarily” thin one. First thing to come to my mind was anorexia and made me think of the ‘made for TV movie’ about Karen Carpenter… who battled anorexia and also died of cardiac arrest at the age of 32. What ever the cause of Murphy’s cardiac arrest, I believe it should be disclosed while certainly respecting the family’s request of privacy, She was a public figure and perhaps in her death (especially if found to be drug and/or eating disorder related) a life will be changed for the better.

    I am leaning toward anorexia induced heart failure, in combination with an addiction to prescription medication. Vicodin? Norco? I believe that she had turned away from the coke and went in favor of the prescriptions after plastic surgery (ies). Of course, I am no psychic. The pieces fit though. However, there were underlying health problems that weren’t really spoken of.

    As far as the autopsy: Her husband could not want one for 2 reasons: He doesn’t want doctors cutting open, and poking around inside the woman that he loves. Makes sense right? Also, to preserve her “secrets”. Absolutely makes sense. Either way, very tragic and sad. My condolences to both her and her husbands families. Sooo sad.
