Survivor Samoa’s Russell Hantz
As you probably saw on the season finale of Survivor Samoa last night, Natalie White edged out badboy Russell Hantz for title of Sole Survivor.
I was absolutely LIVID when the jury chose Natalie, the cute, coattail riding contestant who skated her way through the competition. Say what you will, but when you basically draft someone the entire way through the game, that isn’t exactly game play, or strategy. It’s being weak and it means you have no balls to take risks.
Russell on the other hand played the game better than I have ever seen anyone play it. He took extreme risks, manipulated and controlled people, found immunity idols without any clues or help, and was thinking, plotting and planning the entire way through the game. Sure, he was a little dirty, but it’s not like he was there to make friends. He went in that game to WIN. And that’s exactly what he deserved to do. Unfortunately the other contestants were miffed that he played them and refused to acknowledge his survival skills.
Russell did not walk away empty handed though. He won the $100,000 fan favorite prize -over Shambo and her crazy mullet. Speaking of, if her hair on top is that shaggy, I cannot imagine what it’s like down…ugh, nevermind.
We might end up seeing Russell on Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, which will premiere on February 11th, 2010. Maybe then he can get his revenge.
Total BS! Russel deserved to win. I really liked Natalie, but she shouldn’t have won. I hate when the people on the jury vote based on their feelings getting hurt. WAH! Get over it.
I loooooved Russel throwing Jaison’s socks in the fire AGAIN. Russel rules and deserved to win.

Russell absolutely should have won. They should try a survivor where the people vote, not the scorned jury members. Yes, it will change the game completely – it will be based on surviving. They will still need to make alliances to not get voted off, etc, but the jury will be the public who are not attached to any of these people. We just watch the skill and we watch who is riding someone elses coat tails. They can even have segments where the individuals tell us their strategy day by day, so they can’t make it up at the end like Natalie did – after the fact. Oh, my strategy was to not look aggressive. Uh huh. No, her strategy was to hook on to people who actually had skill and to stay under the radar. Sure, you can survive for awhile that way – but you shouldn’t win the game!!!! Had this game gone all the way to the end – Russell would have eliminated her!
I was absolutely pissed that Russell lost. That stupid jury couldn’t possibly think that Natalie outwitted and outplayed Russell. Dumbasses. I felt soooo bad for Russell he was so upset and had a million reasons to feel that way. At least the viewers know the truth and at least Russ got to take home the hundred thou!!!!
Russell did not deserve to win, he was a snake and poor loser. If he’s on survivor villian, he will be voted off right away. He was a whiner! He should not have received the $100,000. People who believe he was a winner better shake their heads.
Yo Natalie! I’m really happy for you, Imma let you finish but Russel had one of the best games of Survivor of all time! One of the best games of all times!
Russel should have won! That jury voted as stupidly as they played… What a bunch of dumbasses! I hope Russel comes back on Heroes vs. Villians!
If Russell had played to win, he would have. As it was, his gameplay and arrogance antagonized the jury….bad strategy. As someone on the jury said, her strategy was just as legitimate as his was, she couldn’t have played his strategy just as he couldn’t have played hers. Survivor fell into the rut of rewarding jag-offs and cutthroat manipulation, I’m glad this jury realized they didn’t have to automatically reward treachery. She played Russell as she said, and she let him be the bad guy, let him be the ass, let him take all the heat. She played his ass real good. She deserved it because she played the only game she could have played and made it work.
It was Russell who deserved to win Survivor. No one in the Survivor history played such a calculated game as he did. The other Survivors were simply pawns in his game. He did everything right except for two times. First when he told Mick that he was a wealthy oil company owner and second for not taking Jaison to the final 3. As far as winning…in my opinion the jury should not be the deciding factor on who wins, but they should allow the viewing audience decide the winner. Just like on American Idol.
I was so disgusted when the jury voted for Natilie the million!!! Just could not believe it!! Russell was like all us rednecks…he was real and was truly a survivor. I think the jury was made up of a handful of cityslickers, who would never be able to survive in the real world without the leadership of someone like Russell. If they were not going to vote objectively..they should have stayed home!! You would think that after a while…someone would have conspired to eliminate Russell.. The players on this survivor gave Russell his power. They allowed him to play them all!! I truly enjoyed watching this survivor the best…until the jury pulled that stunt!!! I definitey agree…the viewers should do the voting if the jurors are going to react in such an irresponsible manner..to me they ruined the game for me this time. Survivor producers should really reconsider the voting aspect of this game. Yes..I know it is a game and it ain’t over til it’s over…but please..reward the true winners, especially when it is extremely obvious who has played with conviction!!!!
Ok, Russell so deserved to win and those who says otherwise (Delores) obviously doesnt know how this game is to be played. Yeah Russ did some pretty rude things, but he played the game. He is the best player I have seen and I have watched all the seasons. He deserved to win the million…the only reason I wouldnt give it to him is because he is a millionaire. But he played the best game ever and everyone that doesnt think the same needs to go back and watch every season fully and see that what he did was and IS part of the game…………………
