‘Balloon Boy’ Dad Richard Heene Gets Jail Time!

Balloon Boy dad, Richard Heene

Richard Heene, the man who devised the whole “Balloon Boy” scheme has been sentenced by a Colorado judge to 90 days in jail.

He won’t actually serve it all behind bars, he’ll be doing about 30 days in jail and 60 days work release. (You can bet the paparazzi will be looking for him in an orange outfit as he picks up trash, heh.)

Heene has also been fined $42,000 for the publicity stunt and will be under probation for four years.

Moments before sentencing Heene struggled to say, “I do want to reiterate that I’m very, very sorry.”

The best part about all this is that the judge has ordered that the family cannot PROFIT from their little scheme. No books, no films, no made for TV B.S.

HA!

That’s what really shattered the Heene world, I’m quite sure of it. I mean, that was the entire reason they did this. Kudos to the judge! Why couldn’t this judge have been the O.J. Simpson judge? It’s a shame…

Heene’s sentence has been delayed until after the holidays for the sake of his children.

UPDATE: Ballon Boy mom has been sentenced to 20 days jail and also received four years probation.

I think it’s great that the judge forbid them from profiting, it will keep other people from trying a stunt like this. Once again instant fame came to some booger eaters who wanted to be on TV for some of that Gosslin money and they cost the local’s money and embarrassed all the people who genuinely went out to find their lost child. This should hurt them financially, it should hurt them for being shameful and greedy people. Honestly they are lucky they didn’t have their kids taken away – and after the fines and attorney’s fees I hope this is the last time any of us hear of the Heene family.

I kept trying to think of who Richard Heene resembles and then I thought he kind of looks like the actor Ted McGinley, Marcy’s husband on the sitcom Married with Children
