Anne Hathaway blows kisses during the Woman of the Year parade through the streets of Cambridge as she becomes the most recent recipient of Woman of the Year by Hasty Pudding Theatricals of Harvard University.
My only question is…are the drag queens real drag queens? Or are they straight dudes dressed as drag queens? I have always wondered this. Heh.

no real drag queen would be caught dead in make-up done that horribly, lol. real drag queens are the masters in theatrical make-up
Hi Spicy,
They’re not “real” drag queens, they are Harvard students dressed in character from the show – one of the reason their make-up looks silly is that they’re trying to play up the humor of men in drag rather than look as good as a real drag queen can look. This year’s show is called “Commie Dearest.”
The Hasty Pudding Theatre is a Harvard theatre group that puts on burlesque/comedy musicals written and directed by students, on a more or less professional level. Students compete to get their show and score produced. Only men are in the performance (as male and female characters,) but women are involved as stage hands, costume designers, producers, admin etc. For example, Rashida Jones was in the Pudding and co-composed the score her senior year.
The show goes on tour over the winter (NYC, Bermuda) and makes quite a tidy profit every year – the Pudding owns their own building and isn’t supported by Harvard college.
I was Harvard class of ‘00, and had several good friends in the Pudding.
