Mel Gibson Interview/ Reporter Rant [VIDEO]

Mel’s latest rant: Interview gone wild!

Mel Gibson called a reporter an a**hole after the guy (Dean Richards) repeatedly asked him about his past.

The reporter put Mel on the spot by asking him about his drunk arrest and crazy rant a few years back. The guy was supposed to be asking Mel about his new movie, but the interview took a turn for the worse when he wouldn’t stop prodding into Mel’s past.

DEAN: “Do you think the public will perceive you any differently after all that’s in the news about you?”

MEL: “What are you referring to specifically?” (Laughs nervously)

DEAN: “Referring to the drinking problems, referring to what’s been called the anti-semantic rant…all those things, you know what I’m talking about.”

MEL: “Ok. So uh, that’s almost four years ago dude. I’ve moved on, I guess you haven’t.

DEAN: “Well, I’m just wondering if you think the public has moved on and will perceive you in the same light.”

MEL: “I certainly hope so, it is awhile back, and uh, and I have done all the necessary mea culpas. Let’s move on, dude. C’mon.”

DEAN: “Edge of Darkness opens today, it’s good to see you back in the saddle doing what you do best. Thanks a lot for joining us Mel, take care.”

MEL: “Bye bye. Asshole.”

Obviously Mel believed he had gone off-air after calling Dean an ass, but do you think he had a right to feel the way he did? I do!

The interview wasn’t supposed to be about Mel’s drinking and crazy rant from years ago, he was out promoting his new film and expected to be asked questions about it – not to be grilled on his past. Sure, Mel has a few screws loose these days, but I don’t think this reporter was being appropriate. I agree with maniacal Mel. The guy was an a**hole.

I would have said and done exactly as Mel did but I still don’t like Mel.

I strongly disagree, Mel was the a*hole in the first place: “I don’t know what you are talking about”, what an idiot.
Actors or celebrities deserve respect, like any other person, but are not untouchable. Reporters have the right to ask what is of public interest, and celebrities have the right to answer, or not answer, but also always showing some respect.
I can’t believe you think the guy has gone too far for asking, when you’re posting paparazzi pictures, what is more disrespectful, in my opinion.

I think both of them are a-holes but for some reason, Mel’s reaction and facial expressions lead me to believe that he is a real prick. If they both agreed to not bring his past up, then the interviewer went to far. If Mel just went with the flow and politely said he declined to comment, he would have come out the better person. His reaction proved he STILL doesn’t have control over his anger.

The interviewer did absolutely nothing wrong. He didn’t ask about Mel’s past. He asked for Mel’s opinion on how the public perceived his past. In other words, has his fans continued to support him. This was an opportunity for Mel to praise his supporters and get some good press. However, Mel may have been too wasted to realize this.

Look people, here’s how it is. Mel Gibson is a great actor and yes that puts him in the spotlight to be poked and prodded every day of the rest of his life but like he said, people learn, time teaches lessons and he learned his. It was old news and the dumbass reporter should have just left it in the past. He was obviously trying to see if he could get Mel riled up. Everyone has demons and there is no one out there who can say they have never spoken a racial slur or had a similar thought. Everyone has a breaking point, we break, we fix it and move on which is what Mel did, so why doesn’t everyone just shut the hell up and LET him!

Mel said some things several years ago that no one will drop. Ive said and done things im not proud of and would be embarrassed and defensive if they were brought back in my face. Mel was doing this guy a favor by letting him interview him and he showed a total lack of respect for mel and the movie that he went there to promote solely. HOW can Mel know what his rants and drinking have done to his image to 300 million people and how that will effect his movies? I think its clear it hasnt effected it at all because again we all have done things we arnt proud of. I think the interviewer was an asshole for throwing what he did a long time ago in his face, while he was doing the interviewer a favor….

also to add to my last comment, the question he asked cant be answered so why would he ask it?
