Alec Baldwin Taken to Hospital After Threatening to OD

Alec Baldwin and daughter Ireland, 14, were involved in a heated argument late Thursday night, and according to Ireland, it ended with Alec threatening to overdose on pills.

Baldwin, 51, allegedly scared his daughter by telling her that he was going to choke down a bunch of sleeping pills. She called 911 just after midnight and ALec was taken to a Manhattan hospital, where he was later released. He had not overdosed on pills.

Alec’s publicist is saying that it was all just a “misunderstanding.” Uh-huh.

Alec has been known to be emotionally abusive to his daughter in the past, once calling her a “rude, thoughtless little pig.” She was 11-years-old at the time. The phone message was later leaked onto the internet by Ireland. Having been exposed, Alec publicly apologized.

If Ireland’s allegations are indeed true, this is terribly sad for her. No child should have to grow up with a parent who toys with their head like that. It just isn’t right. And if her allegations are true, I don’t think she should stay with her father anymore. Their relationship is obviously toxic, and she is better off without him.

On the flip side, if she is lying,which I highly doubt at this point but let’s give Alec the benefit of the doubt hypothetically, then this girl already knows how to manipulate the media – and that’s scary. That would mean she is spoiled to the point of not caring if she destroys her father’s career to get what she wants.

I am only pointing out both sides because we weren’t there and honestly don’t know what happened. My hunch is Alec is totally at fault here, but sometimes things are not what they seem and I’d like to keep an open mind. And dammit, I love Alec in 30 Rock. I hate that he is (allegedly) such a douchebag sometimes.
