Kevin Eubanks is reportedly leaving The Tonight Show after its initial debut on March 1st.

Eubanks is expected to pursue other interests instead of continuing on as the Tonight Show’s bandleader. Kevin Eubanks will supposedly appear one last time on The Tonight Show for its premiere and after that former Hootie & the Blowfish singer Darius Rucker will allegedly be his replacement.

Bum deal, I like Kevin. But I am still a little miffed about the whole NBC/ Conan crap, so it’s not like I will be watching anyway. Maybe that’s how Kevin felt too? [Source: Extra!]

UPDATE: Now we are learning that the rumor most likely got out of hand. Kevin is slated to perform on the Tonight Show through March, at least. After that, it is still up in the air. Darius Rucker’s management is also denying that he is set to replace Kevin as the Tonight Show’s bandleader.
