Howard Stern, Gabourey Sidibe
Shock Jock Howard Stern is stirring up controversy again by saying that Precious star Gabourey Sidibe is too “enormous” to ever work again.

“There’s the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen. She is enormous. Everyone’s pretending she’s a part of show business and she’s never going to be in another movie. She should have gotten the Best Actress award because she’s never going to have another shot. What movie is she gonna be in?”
Ok, so Howard was harsh in saying what he said, but really people, is he wrong? I don’t think so. Sure, Gabourey might land a role or two in the next year (which she already has) but after the buzz of Precious is over, so will Gabourey’s career be.
You can argue that Mo’Nique, Oprah Winfrey, etc. are all successful in the entertainment industry, but they have established careers. They have all been doing this many years and none of them started out with an Academy Award nomination. The only place Gabourey has to go is down, sadly.
And as for Howard calling her “enormous,” well, I hate to break it to you folks who are freaking out about this, but she IS HUGE. And like he says, she will die an early death if she doesn’t get healthy soon. She is at a dangerous weight, if not deadly.
I am not hating on Gabby, I think she’s great and was really hoping for her to win an Oscar. But I am not going to pretend what Howard says isn’t true – because it is.
Hollywood is so fickle. They all have their heads up Gabourey’s ass right now because she is “hot,” but before you know it, it will be like no one ever knew her. Howard is just speaking the truth, and sometimes the truth hurts.
Damn right Spicy!!!!!!!!!!! Why lie to this young woman?! She needs to take the money she has and lose weight for her health, like Howard said, and then and maybe then will she have longevity in Hollyweird.
As one casting director said, Nikki Blonsky was great in Hairspray, but her weight has killed her career – no roles since.
I love Howard for refusing to be politically correct. That’s what’s wrong with people today, too afraid to speak the damn truth!
Well a quick check of IMDB shows she has a series with Laura Linney, and two more parts in pre production, she did an amazing job in Precious and I think she may surprised everyone. The world isn’t all white and thin, and the most interesting characters are often against type. She’s got talent, she’s proven that and she may not be a leading lady but I think there is no reason why she can’t act and for a long while.
Howard is a nasty misogynist and didn’t need to express his opinion in such a harsh way. Nobody says his wife married him for his money because he’s an ugly insecure Jew who bought a model/actress who never really did either -wink wink, and who if he was an accountant wouldn’t have bothered to even look at him twice. I think that’s far more accurate in some ways than being a 50ish man picking on a 21 year old. He should clean those windows in his glass house before he tosses rocks.
I’m with you Jinxy! None of us have crystal balls to predict what this woman will do. Things do change… except Howard. You hit it with respect to his wife too… yeah right she’d be with him broke. lol
Look as heartless and cold this information is it is true!!! Let us be honest, honesty does not mean you are a hater. I am happy for her we all are but it is getting out of hand and it is also clear that no one is talking about it on the television but that will only make things worse for this woman. People are not going to stop making their opinions due to the fact of the obvious. Oprah is using her as she is known to do a lot of people. I just want this young lady to get her health right no one is aganist her but telling people to lie her career will backfire.

It is one thing to say that Gabourey should lose weight for health reasons, and it’s another thing to say someone will die if she doesn’t lose weight. You are not God, you don’t know anyone’s destiny or future, you have no right to say what will happen to someone because you simply don’t know. It would be wrong for me to say to you or anyone will die because of whatever reason. Why did he have to make a point of calling her a fat “black” chick??? I’m quite sure if his but kissing sidekick robin quivers or anyone in hollywood would called an actress “a fat jewish chick” they would lose their jobs and be on the Hot seat. Maybe Gabourey is trying to lose weight, we don’t know what’s going on in her personal life. She is confident and she doesn’t care what anyone says or thinks and I applaud women with this attitude because they are not buying into this media hype of what is supposed to be beautiful and accepted. You don’t have fake blond stringy hair like beyonce, get countless surgeries like Heidi Montag and get Gastric Bypass like Carnie Wilson to feel beautiful and accepted. Learn to love yourself and change for personal growth, not for the world.
i am on two sides of this. Let’s say for a second that Howard Stern had PC’d this and hadn’t said it as harsh and cold hearted as he did. Would people be more likely to agree with him? On one side Howard is kinda right, image is everything in Hollywood, don’t pretend like it isn’t. We are in this day and age where it sometimes matters more how you will look on screen then how you act on screen and thats sad, and i think that’s whats gonna hold Gabby back some. I think that if she chooses to lose weight it shouldn’t be for the pressures of Hollywood but for her own health. She’s only 26 and she shouldn’t be that heavy. On the other hand I have to agree with some people, we are not God, Howard Stern is not God, and we don’t know how many more roles she will get. Or if she will die young or none of that. And Spicy, I thought when you get nominated for a Oscar (i.e. the highest honor you can get) your career goes up?
Gabourey is awesome and just precious but im with Howard on this.
