Betty White to host SNL
The Facebook movement worked!
Betty White will be hosting SNL on May 8th, 2010.
I mentioned this during my Ustream on Monday, but haven’t posted about it yet. I am psyched about this. Generally speaking, SNL has sucked this season, minus Zack Galifianakis hosting last week and Pearl Jam performing this week. Now we have Betty White hosting in May – yay!
The May 8th episode will be a Mother’s Day special and past SNL cast members Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch will also make appearances on that particular show.
Lorne Michaels talked about the Facebook movement in which fans of Betty White pushed for the 88-year-old comedienne to host the show:
“It took on a groundswell. It isn’t something we would have said no to, [but it] validated that, ‘Oh, that’d be fun’… It was the outpouring of affection from fans, and we feel the same way.”

As both a host and musical guest, J Lo was much better. You’re right about Zach Galifianakis. He was funny and brought the sketches out of the gutter. I’m not even a fan of his but he was good, esp. with that piano bit. Pearl Jam? They sucked. From a sketch last night: Now appearing at the “Kickspit Underground Rock Festival” along with Donkey Crust and Gunt, is PEARL SPAM featuring Eddie Van Bed Wetter and his band of weirdos. “Everyone gets a pitchfork!”
