Sanjaya: Speeding in Seattle

Sanjaya Malakar, the Seattle based American Idol contestant from a few years back, was busted for speeding in the Seattle area Tuesday morning.

Sanjaya was FLYING on I-405 at 2:30am through Kirkland, where, if you are from the Seattle area, you KNOW that this is a cop HAVEN! But Sanjaya didn’t seem to know – or care – and was clocked at an amazing 110mph. He was going so fast, in fact, that it apparently took the trooper more than 3-miles to catch up with him.

State Patrol didn’t arrest him, but instead issued him a ticket for $411. Other stories have reported that the speed limit was 55-mph in this area, but they are wrong. I lived in Kirkland for years and the speed limit through there is 60-mph. Had Sanjaya been doing 120-mph, or had the speed limit been 55-mph, he would have been arrested for doing twice the speed limit.

Sanjaya was driving a 2008 Mazda 6. No drugs or alcohol were suspected, just plain and simple bad judgment.
