Rob Shuter at PopEater says that a source (a senior producer at a major news outlet) told him: “News outlets need to be prepared. However shocking a story it might be, they are in the business of breaking news fast and any preparation that can be done ahead of time is them just simply doing their jobs. We all scrambled when Brittany Murphy and Heath Ledger died and don’t want that to happen again.” Rob also contacted the AP who would not confirm nor deny that they have a prepared obituary for Lindsay Lohan.
I guess I’m slippin’ because I don’t see the need to do such a thing. It’s simply bad karma. I’ve had to write too many obituaries in my life (real ones for relatives – I’m not talking about blogging about celebs death) and I take that sort of thing very seriously. I mean, how fricking jaded do you have to be to pre-write the obituary of a 23-year old?! Sure, she parties hard, and often, but come on. Most of Hollywood does. And yeah, lots of people have died because of their drug habits, especially in recent times, but if you’re going to write Lindsay’s obituary “in case” she ends up dying, you might as well write up the rest of Hollywood’s too.
