Tiger Woods NIKE Commercial Ad: Earl Woods [VIDEO]

Tiger Woods’ new NIKE commercial/ ad with Earl Woods

The new Tiger Woods NIKE ad/ Commercial for the Masters is a little umm….weird.

It shows Tiger Woods in black and white, looking incredibly remorseful with that Puss In Boots (think of Shrek) look on his face. Of course he’s in full NIKE garb, and never once does his expression change.

His late father, Earl Woods is talking to him, obviously post scandal, and asking him things that a wise father would ask his child after they had made a terrible mistake.

All I could think was, damn NIKE, you guys are really playing minds games with us. Basically, NIKE wants the late Earl Woods to be you and I. They want US to feel like WE are Earl Woods, and that those are the questions WE should be running through our mind.

“I wanna find out what your thinking was. I wanna know what your feelings are and did you learn anything.”

And if we find those answers in his press conferences and his willingness to go to sex rehab, yadda, yadda, yadda, that we should forgive and forget.

Your thoughts?

I just had this conversation with my co-worker today. His opinion is that he’ll never root for Tiger again and is a tad bent that everyone is so willing to forgive and forget. For me, it’s kinda like comparing apples and oranges…how the man plays the game and what he does in his personal life are to VERY different things. Everybody f*cks up, so I don’t think I should boo him everytime he goes to tee off…

To me, it seems like Nike is putting this out there so they can keep making money off their cash cow. It’s almost like they are saying that they know what Tiger did was wrong, but they want us to forgive him so they can still sponsor him and make the big bucks off him when he does well.
This is kind of uncalled for, in my opinion. Tiger has apologized, repeatedly, and I for one am sick of hearing about this. OK. We get it. You know you did wrong and are Very Very sorry. Can we move on now?
Tiger’s personal life shouldn’t have anything to do with the sport he plays and definitely nothing to do with Nike. Geez.

I interpretted it differently- not that we are meant to be like his Dad in asking these questions but that Nike is like Tiger’s father and that while they support him, they ask of him the same question a father asks their son. Effectively Nike is saying- we stood by you because you are family–

my thoughts are that i wish Earl Woods was still alive and with us so he could talk to his son in person.
