Dixie Carter Dies at 70

Dixie Carter has died at the age of 70.

Carter is best known for her role as Julia Sugarbaker in the 80′s sitcom, Designing Women. She also guest starred on Desperate Housewives in 2007. She even garnered an Emmy nomination for her guest spot on the show.

Dixie’s husband of 25-years, Hal Holbrook, asked for privacy while grieving his wife. He told ET: “This has been a terrible blow to our family … We would appreciate everyone understanding that this is a private family tragedy. Thank you.

The couple have two daughters, Mary Dixie and Ginna, who appeared on an episode of Designing Women with their mother.

    This is really sad, but apparently unexpected so it could have been a heart attack, poor Hal he loves her so much. They were together for over 20 years and I am sure his heart is broken, in this day and age 70 is not that old. Rest in Peace and thanks Dixie for all the laughs and great performances you gave us all.
