Pamela Anderson’s twin gold statue
Pamela Anderson has been immortalized in gold thanks to artist Marc Quinn.
Quinn likes his subjects to be people obsessed with their appearances, who have often gone out of their way to alter their bodies. Pamela isn’t the only person he has replicated. Michael Jackson is another, and like Pamela, there are two of him. One black, one white. Other subjects include Dennis “cat man” Avner, you know, the guy who looks like a cat and has crazy tattoos, piercings and surgery, and Thomas Beattie, the pregnant man.
Pretty cool actually. The exhibition, called Allanah, Buck, Catman, Chelsea, Michael, Pamela and Thomas opens at White Cube’s Hoxton Square gallery in London tomorrow. Trust me, if I were in London I would SO be going to see this! It runs through June 26th. Someone PLEASE go to this for me and report back.
Quinn says of his work: “You have got people who have decided to change the outside of their bodies to fit how they feel inside.”
Oh hey, that sounds like a cool show. Not keen on the title but seems fun :)
