Simon Monjack, husband of Brittany Murphy found dead

Simon Monjack was found dead in his Hollywood Hills home Sunday night.

Los Angeles police have confirmed his death.

As I write this the cause of Monjack’s death has not yet been determined. A spokesperson for LAPD told media Sunday night: “We have detectives at scene. They are conducting their investigation. Once we have further information, we will provide it.”

Police were called to the Monjack home at approximately 9:30pm Sunday, TMZ is reporting that Monjack was found by Brittany Murphy’s mother, Sharon. Simon Monjack was pronounced dead at the scene.

Monjack is the husband of late actress Brittany Murphy, who died unexpectedly last December. Her body was discovered by her mother as well. The coroner’s office ruled that her death was caused by pneumonia and drugs, causing a cardiac arrest.

Simon Monjack was 40-years old.

Poor Sharon. That woman has been through a hell of a lot these past five months. Just tragic.

UPDATE:

We are learning that Simon Monjack’s death is eerily similar to his late wife’s. He was discovered in bed, with many prescription bottles on the nightstand next to him. Many of those bottles were empty. If you recall, prescription bottles were in that same place when Brittany Murphy was found. However, no proof yet that Monjack overdosed. He had heart problems and had a heart attack last year. He was scheduled for bypass surgery in September.
