Jesse James Nightline interview, the complete video
Jesse told Nightline that he thinks he is the most hated man in the world right now. He’s probably right.
In the Nightline interview he spoke of meeting Sandra for the first time. He says he assumed she would be “a Hollywood bitch” but that after he met her it couldn’t have been further from the truth. He says it was “like being hit in the head with a brick.”
Speaking of bricks, Sandra probably felt like she was hit with a brick when Jesse sat her down and confessed what he had done at about the same time that Michelle Bombshell McGee sold her story to InTouch magazine.
Jesse says he thinks Sandra had her suspicions initially but that he lied to cover up his infidelities. He refused to give Nightline a mistress count, saying what matters most is that he destroyed a perfect marriage to the perfect wife.
Jesse James told Nightline that rehab brought back painful memories of being abused as a kid. He blames some of what he has done on the abuse. He says that inside he still feels like that abused kid. “Bike builder, Monster Garage TV star, all that stuff is a huge smokescreen so that people won’t see that I’m a scared, abused kid, a seven-year-old.”
He describes to Nightline one account of the abuse where he was being chased by his father in the dark: “I tripped over this little low fence wire and snapped my wrist and I remember my dad laughed at me when I hit the ground and called me a dummy. I was petrified of my dad. It wasn’t so much getting the s*** beat out of me or getting my arm broken or getting kicked or whatever or punched, it was the in-between time. It was the fear of that happening again. I was a terrorized kid, you know, and, I mean, it’s really tough for me to think about now because, Sunny is the age that I was when my dad broke my arm.”
Sunny is James’ 7-year-old daughter. When he spoke of his daughter he teared up and couldn’t speak.
Jesse James’ stepmother, Janina James Coan, and his father, Larry, are both denying the alleged abuse.
Coan says, “Larry was the most caring father, the kindest father who would do anything for anybody. He loved Jesse to death and would brag about him all the time.”
She did admit that Jesse and his father did not get along, but that their relationship went in the tank after Jesse robbed a Fotomart (remember those?) and his father turned him in. She also says that Jesse James got most of his injuries from motorcross, not abuse.
Not sure if I am buying stepmom’s story. Jesse was pretty emotional, I don’t think you can fake that. And spouses of abusers often cover their partner’s tracks…
In the final Nightline interview video, Jesse tells Nightline about the kids, the adoption, the divorce and his love for his family.
