Amy Locane charged in DUI death

Amy Locane, former Melrose Place actress, killed a woman Sunday night driving while intoxicated.

But Amy Locane wasn’t just intoxicated, she was WASTED. AND she not only hit a car, killing the passenger of that vehicle, but she was also involved in a hit and run collision just before her deadly accident.

Locane, 38, rear-ended a car at an intersection and got out of her SUV. The driver of the other vehicle phoned police and Amy jumped back into her car and fled the scene. The other driver then followed Locane, telling police that she was all over the road and hitting mailboxes on the way.

It was shortly after that Amy Locane hit a car turning into a driveway. The crash killed Helene Seeman instantly. Helene’s husband, Fred Seeman, was flown to a local hospital and is still in critical condition.

Locane admitted to police that she had drank several glasses of wine that evening. Officers noted that she appeared intoxicated and smelled of alcohol.

She has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by auto. Locane appeared in court Monday, looking somber and crying.

Her bail has been set at $50,000. Locane faces 5-10 years in prison.

Locane is married and has two children.

Such a shame. Her poor children and family. But especially sad for Helene’s family and husband whose lives will never be the same. Our thoughts are with Fred Seeman.

It just doesn’t make any sense to drink and drive. It really doesn’t. It is NEVER worth the risk. Amy gambled and lost. With such a wonderful family and career, WHY would you?

This is a sad story not for Amy but for the people that she hurt. People like her that don’t know how to handle their liquor should pay the price.

So agreed Spicy about the nonsense of drinking and driving. If I am out and enjoying even a couple cocktails, I always arrange for sober transportation….even if that means paying a cabbie. I always look at it as “it is much cheaper than a dui” and will always spare innocent lives.

This is a horrible story, she hit some one and RAN the victim was following her on the phone to the police telling them she was driving down the road running into things right before she T-boned and killed the passenger of the car she hit. How drunk was she? I hope the bar that served her is sued and shut down, you can’t let a patron leave in that condition and not be partially responsible. Her husband works in the wine industry, which makes this just one sad and odd story. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong the cops couldn’t get there in time, the person who was legally driving home ended up in critical condition with his wife dead, Locane’s small children will grow up without their mother who will most likely do 85% of a 10 year sentence, and that isn’t even close enough to make up for a terrible error in judgment. Call a cab, even if your car gets towed it’s all worth it not to hurt innocent people living their lives. Plus it’s a small price considering she’s going to have to live with the fact she destroyed a strangers family, and her own. Cabs are really cheap compared to what can happen.

I’m not making excuses for her, but it’s possible she was trying to get away from the person following her from the first accident and was so distracted by them that she missed seeing the car she t-boned.

Maybe we should all refrain from passing judgement…..nobody is perfect, and it’s easy to say what you WOULD have dome in the same instance. It’s impossible to speculate what you WOULD have done, because you have no idea what your mindset would be in an instance like that. Her decision making process was flawed, to be certain, however, nobody deserves to be involved in something like this, whether it be Amy Locane, or the victims.

Actually you are quite wrong Mike. I wouldnt get into the car after drinking….PERIOD. She effed up and now she has screwed up a whole bunch of peoples lives. I have no problem passing judgement.
