Jaycee Lee Dugard, 30, has been awarded $20 million from the state of California after being held captive for 18-years by creep Phillip Garrido.
Jaycee Lee Dugard was kept in a tent in Garrido’s back yard with the two children she bore by Garrido, a convicted sex offender. Dugard filed a suit claiming parole agents failed to do their work competently. She claimed psychological, physical and emotional distre.
A joint statement from the state Department of Justice and Dugard said the $20 million will “help them reunite with their family and obtain the services and treatment that they need to overcome their ordeal in an environment that is free from unwanted press scrutiny.”
Both houses of the Legislature overwhelmingly approved the settlement. The state Assembly passed the bill 70-2, with seven members not voting, and the Senate voted 30-1 in favor, with eight members not voting. A spokesman for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said he plans to sign the bill.
Apparently Jaycee’s biological father, who never had anything to do with her, has popped out of the woodwork, most likely due to the fact that his daughter has money now. But Jaycee is no dummy. She wants nothing to do with him, nor does her family.
Hopefully Jaycee Lee Dugard, her two children and her mother can heal now and move on to live “normal” lives. And hopefully Bubba and the broomstick take care of Phillip Garrido while in prison…
Not that jaycee didn’t endure a horrible ordeal, and sure she deserves some sort of retribution, but how the hell can the state of california afford to give her 20 mill?! I thought they were in a budget crisis, asking washington for financial help even. I mean really.
Even if the state is bankrupt they have to pay what they owe. We are running at a deficit, it should be one of the wealthiest states and through decades of some of the worst Governors and truly unsound financial decisions made by what could only be described as the economic clown advisors of the universe we are in this situation. Victims funds still have money – and 20 million may seem like a lot but she had two children alone in a dirty sound proof shed with no medical care, and a probation officer who never bothered to walk the property ONE TIME! She’s owed so much more but at least she and her kids will be able to go on with their lives, get educations and mental health care they will need for the rest of their lives.
Her father is just such a bottom feeder, how could Gloria have taken that dirtbag on as a client? What is wrong with her??

It’s sad that $20 million won’t get her life but she deserves it.
