Colton Harris-Moore caught in Bahamas

Colton Harris-Moore, a.k.a. ‘The Barefoot Bandit’ has been caught in the Bahamas.

Moore, 19, was caught just before dawn off the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. He led police on a high speed boat chase before being caught. When captured The Barefoot Bandit was indeed, barefoot. He was also sporting camouflage shorts, a long sleeved shirt and a bullet proof vest. He had a gun in his possession.

Just before his capture shots were fired, but we aren’t sure if it was Colton, or the police, who fired those shots.

Colton Harris-Moore gained notoriety two years ago after escaping a halfway house in Renton, WA. He stole numerous planes locally and landed them successfully without ever having flying lessons. Harris-Moore has long been a fan of airplanes though, and his bedroom at his mother’s house is adorned with model airplanes and a poster of a cockpit.

Speaking of his mother, Pamela Kohler, she has wanted her son to turn himself in but has also said she is proud of him for flying planes. She was really kind of cheering him on from the sidelines.

Recently Colton Harris-Moore made his way from the West Coast to the East Coast, stealing cars and planes along the way. He broke into houses to eat and shower. He ended up stealing an airplane and flying it to the Bahamas where he was eventually caught.

It seems The Barefoot Bandit’s reign is over. It will be interesting to see what sort of sentence he will be handed. AND how many interviews/book deals/movies that will come his way, lining the thief’s pockets with a TON of money. He’s certainly not going to come out of this barefoot…
