Dina Lohan, the mother of troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, made an appearance on The Today Show with Matt Lauer Friday in an attempt to sway public perception about her daughter who is currently in rehab.
However, things didn’t exactly go as she may have planned.
Dina Lohan was grilled by Matt Lauer
Matt Lauer: You don’t think she deserved her time in jail?
Dina Lohan: Not for this particular offense. Um, she violated, um, actually didn’t violate, she was in for missing a couple of classes and she made up…she was working at the time, so, um, the judge went overboard and put her in serious lockdown for two weeks…with murderers…
Matt Lauer: What did she tell you about that time in jail?
Dina Lohan: Um, I actually visited her behind glass, um, and Lindsay had missed driving classes that she had made up when she went to court and now the judge is being taken off the case and it’s a really serious ofense for a judge. She went against the district attorney…
Matt Lauer: Was she given special treatment in jail…
(Dina cuts him off)
Dina Lohan: Absolutely not.
(Dina interrupting again)
Dina Lohan: Do you read TMZ? (she smirks) You must read them because…
Matt Lauer: …there were some reports that other inmates were locked down as she was transferred.
Dina Lohan: Actually that’s a safety precaution when, um, you know, it’s not just Lindsay, but other inmates, they do that. It’s just protocol in that jail.
Matt Lauer: She’s now in rehab, court ordered rehab for 90 days. There was a report this morning she may, that may end early. Do you know anything about that?
Dina Lohan: The judge was recused herself or she would have been, you know, she went against the district attorney’s advice, so…
Matt Lauer: So might it actually be a shorter time in rehab?
Dina Lohan: Yeah, it will be.
Matt Lauer: It will be? When do you expect her to get out?
Dina Lohan: Um, I’m not gonna speak, you know, um, not gonna speak for the attorneys and the…soon.
Matt Lauer: Have you been able to visit her in rehab or..
Dina Lohan: Yes.
Matt Lauer: What are her spirits like?
Dina Lohan: Um, she’s great, she’s been through a lot, it was the, you know, the judge played hardball. Um, Lindsay was in with alleged murderers….and she’s become friends with a lot of them (smiles) which is, you know, Lindsay’s rolled with the punches and she’s doing wonderfully. So, she’s good.
Matt Lauer: You keep saying the judge played “hardball” and I know there’s a whole side story to that, obviously that’s..
(Dina interrupts again)
Dina Lohan: She’s fired basically. So.. (another smirk)
Matt Lauer: Well, but, I think a lot of people out there, Dina, think that at some point Lindsay had this coming to her. That it was probably even a good thing to get her behind bars for a slightly longer time than the first time and get her back into rehab for her own good.
Dina Lohan: I think that’s all propaganda and what people are reading and, you know, as you know, you’re in the business of entertainment, so I think a lot of it is pre-orchestrated and you’re reading things that are not fact.
Matt Lauer: This is the fourth time that she’s…
Dina Lohan: No, actually NOT.
Matt Lauer: How many times has she been in rehab?
?Dina Lohan: It was 2007, she was incarcerated for, well, it was only 22 hours..
Matt Lauer: I’m talking about rehab.
Dina Lohan: Right.
Matt Lauer: How many times has she been in rehab?
Dina Lohan: TWO.
Matt Lauer: Two times? Ok, my notes had FOUR, but let’s say it’s two.
??Dina Lohan: I don’t know where you’re reading something like that
Matt Lauer: Clearly, rehab, the first time then, did not work.
Dina Lohan: Well, I actually put her in rehab and when you say what works or not works, I don’t know where you’re getting those words. I’m just saying that, you know, when, I put her in she was 19-years old, went to Los Angeles and was a young girl and got in trouble. And I’m certainly not condoning drinking and driving and what she did, but she’s still paying a price from 2007 to now. It’s the same offense so it’s, nothing, nothing’s changed..
Matt Lauer: She said in 2007 in an interview…’It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs.’ That was three years ago.
Dina Lohan: She was 19. She is 24 now.
Matt Lauer: Has she changed?
Dina Lohan: Yes. She has grown up considerably.
Matt Lauer: Do you think she is capable of going through rehab this time, no matter how long it lasts, and coming out a changed person, able to handle her surroundings.
Dina Lohan: Absolutely.
Matt Lauer: What gives you that confidence?
Dina Lohan: Age. Um, you know, just, you know, living life and growing up.
Matt Lauer: There is, and you know this is coming, and you’ve heard this before. There is feeling with a lot of people that the people closest to Lindsay…
Dina Lohan: Which people? (smirk)
Matt Lauer: I mean you..and your ex husband…
Dina Lohan: Are you talking about a source or a friend or family?
Matt Lauer: I mean you and your ex-husband and her friends have done nothing to help her turn her life around.
Dina Lohan: That’s absolutely not true and that’s just propaganda and what people are reading….you know, I have four children, not just one, and I love them all equally, I haven’t been with my ex-husband in 15-years, I have criminal stayaways and that’s a whole other dynamic I’m not going to get into, but you know, you’re seeing it from reading what you read, I think the public, and the people…
Matt Lauer: Well then tell me from your point of view. Let’s forget what’s been printed. Tell me from your point of view.
??Dina Lohan: What would you like to know?
Matt Lauer: Well, do you think you have been there for Lindsay, and talk about your ex-husband to because he’s been, you know, a parent for a certain period of her life.
Dina Lohan: Parent or apparent? Actually neither.
Matt Lauer: Okay. Have either of you done what you think you could have done to help her along through some very difficult times and prevent her from getting into the situations she’s found herself in?
Dina Lohan: When you’re a parent of younger children you have to let them go a little bit. When she went out to los angeles when she was 19, you know, I had to let her go. without failure, there’s no success. He was there in close proximity but you can’t make your child not go out and go to a club and not get behind the wheel of a car. And I don’t condone any of that behavior. And I put her in the first rehab without court order and no one knows the facts. I don’t speak about Lindsay, and when she does sit down, and she will do an interview, and she’s brilliant, and she will tell other children to try to help them from falling and getting up.
Watch the videos for the rest, it is just as entertaining. On video 2, Matt calls Dina out on a fib about how many times Lindsay has been in rehab.
In this Today Show interview, Dina proved to everyone, once again, that she is completely out of touch with reality, in denial and a complete moron. Every problem of Lindsay’s is everyone else’s fault. Nothing is ever going to change.
Dina might as well have sat there and smoked crack because she came across as a complete nutcase. Just pathetic.
her mom is stupid
Her mom needs to get help too with Al-Anon or something like that. She enables her daughter too much!
