Britney Haynes of Big Brother 12, house burn in fire
Britney Haynes’ home where she was expected to return after tonight’s Big Brother 12 finale has been heavily damaged in a house fire early this morning.
Britney’s fiancé Nick Grisham was home at the time of the fire but managed to escape. He also saved the couple’s two dogs. The house fire happened at approximately 1:30 AM and took firefighters an hour and a half to control the burn.
The house is located in Little Rock, Arkansas and is a rental home. Before Britney Haynes left for Big Brother 12 in July she moved all her belongings into the house. Since then Britney has had no connection with the outside world, and won’t until after tonight’s Big Brother 12 finale.
Britney was eliminated from the Big Brother 12 competition last week and is currently in the jury house. She is one of the contestants who will vote for the winner of the show tonight on CBS.
Nick Grisham called and told producers of the show about the house fire and all parties agreed not to tell Britney until after the finale tonight.
Grisham’s mother, Laura Grisham, told a local news agency: “He told them what happened and they agreed they wouldn’t say anything to Britney. She can’t do anything. The final show is tonight and it’s live. There’s no sense in her knowing.”
She adds that Nick is afraid that Britney is going to be upset with him about the fire. “He hasn’t seen her in three months and he’s afraid she’s going to be mad,” Laura Grisham said. “I said ‘you don’t understand son, you are lucky to be alive, especially after going back in two more times to get the dogs out.’”
The fire was allegedly started by a small grill in the backyard. Despite Nick putting the coals out with water, the surrounding grass eventually caught fire and spread to a garbage can and then to the couple’s home. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
Nick is flying to Los Angeles today to meet with Britney at the Big Brother 12 finale.
Wow, I feel terrible for Britney. What an awful thing to come home to. You know, at the beginning of the season I could not stand her. But as the season went on she really grew on me and she surprisingly ended up being my favorite player on Big Brother 12. I was sad to see her be evicted last week.
