Carrie Fisher: Cocaine Use on Empire Strikes Back

Carrie Fisher admits cocaine use during Empire Strikes Back

Actress Carrie Fisher is admitting that she did tons of cocaine while filming the hit movie Empire Strikes Back.

Fisher says she had a major drug problem during 1979 while on the set of Empire Strikes Back, and that even though she didn’t “like” cocaine, she would basically take whatever she could just to get high. Cocaine was such a popular drug at the time that it was readily available.

Over the course of her life, Carrie Fisher, 53, spent a lot of time in rehab clinics and even psychiatric units. She even overdosed once.

Carrie reveals: “We did cocaine on the set of ‘Empire’, in the ice planet. I didn’t even like coke that much, it was just a case of getting on whatever train I needed to take to get high.”

She says that John Belushi, who died from cocaine overdose in 1982, warned her that she had a problem. And coming from John, that meant something.

“Slowly I realized I was doing a bit more drugs than other people and losing my choice in the matte. If I’d been addicted to booze I’d be dead now, because you just go out and get it.”

As for growing up in a broken Hollywood home, Carrie says it wasn’t the reason she got into drugs. Her mother was Debbie Reynolds and her father, the recently passed Eddie Fisher. “It’s always been my responsibility. If it was Hollywood (to blame), then we’d all be dope addicts.”

Maybe Lindsay Lohan should take note.
