Eric LeGrand, Rutgers football player, paralyzed Saturday

Any college football fan hates to see any player, from any team, have life changing injuries from the game, but that’s exactly what happened Saturday to Eric LeGrand of Rutgers.

Sadly. Eric LeGrand of the Rutgers football program is paralyzed from the neck down after tacking a player during a kickoff return.

The injury to LeGrand happened during the Rutgers vs. Army game, at about the 25 yard line during the fourth quarter of the game.

Rutgers coach, Greg Schiano told the press: “Eric’s spirits were as good as you can expect. He was cognizant of me being there, his mom, everybody. He’s a fighter.”

Schiano and the Rutgers team is holding out hope for Eric LeGrand, pointing out that Penn State quaterback Adam Taliaferro who suffered a spinal cord injury during a game eventually walked again. Schiano said: “We’re going to believe. Eric LeGrand is going to walk onto that field with us. That’s what we believe.”

After the injury Eric LeGrand had emergency surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center. We wish him, his family and his teammates the best.
