Mel Gibson Hangover 2: CANCELED!



Mel Gibson in The Hangover 2?

Earlier this week we told you that Mel Gibson scored a bit part in Hangover 2 as a tattoo artist, but since then producers have had a change of heart.

Director Todd Phillips released the following statement regarding Mel Gibson being in Hangover 2:

“I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”

Many seem to think that Hangover star Zach Galifianakis had something to do with the axing of Mel Gibson. Zach did an interview with Comedy Death-Ray where he talked about acting vs. producing. He sounded a little bitter about a film he is working on (Hangover 2?) and spoke about a conflict. Was he referring to Mel Gibson’s cameo in Hangover 2? Judge for yourself:

“[In] a movie you’re acting in, you don’t have a lot of control — you just show up and vomit your lines out. I’m not the boss. I’m in a deep protest right now with a movie I’m working on, up in arms about something. But I can’t get the guys to [listen]. I’m not making any leeway.”

    Meh, I lost my appreciation for Mel Gibson back in the 90s. Call me shallow but I didn’t watch his movies for his great acting ability.

    Until he makes a full and frank apology for all of his past actions (not that spoon-fed pr pap he spouted last time), seeks and gets help for his issues and makes reparations for his misdeeds, working and funding women’s charities and something that would benefit the jewish faith, then he’s not worthy of any work or recognition.

    I’m bummed. I love Mel, and I would really love to see him rehabilitate himself and come back swinging. He doesn’t need the money, so his public image is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, so if he did the work on himself, I’d believe it was a positive move not a PR stunt. C’mon Mel, get some help.
