Singer Brandy
Brandy has made the world a better place by making one girl’s dream come true in her hometown of McComb, Mississippi.
Brandy was touched when she heard about local 16-year old Jessica Harris, a teenager who is in need of a heart transplant but due to a lack of insurance is not eligible for one until January. Jessica Harris suffers from hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
The singer invited Harris’ entire family out to her home in Los Angeles to celebrate Jessica’s birthday early on October 24th. (Jessica’s 17th birthday is on November 10th.) Brandy showed Jessica the time of her life by treating her to a limousine ride,a tour of L.A., a day at the spa and possibly the chance at attending a live taping of Dancing with the Stars, which Brandy is currently starring on. Brandy also threw a dinner party in honor of Jessica Harris’ birthday which included her own relatives as well as Jessica’s.
Brandy tells ET: “I heard about Jessica Harris from my mom; her story was in the local paper in our hometown and the story just completely moved me. I was in tears and I was just really touched. Jessica needs a heart transplant – I want to do whatever it takes to put her story out there to get her help. People can donate. If any doctors are interested in helping her, any hospitals that are interested, this is why I’m doing this. It is a race against time. She has an amazing story, and for me to be a part of it is amazing; I just want to be a part of her life in any way I can. I just think creating special memories for someone like her is so important.”
One thing is for sure, Brandy has a heart of gold. Hopefully Jessica Harris will get the help she needs before time runs out. Quite an honorable thing to do. Brandy is a step (or a mile) ahead of a lot of Hollywood. Kudos.

Ok, I laughed out loud reading Brandy’s suggestion that “people can donate” – all I could think of was donating hearts.
That said, I love it when celebrities do this kind of thing, it must have been a wonderful day for Jessica. And I really hope that Brandy means donate money.
