The parents of pop star Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus, are set to divorce.

The couple, who have been married for 17-years, filed divorce papers in court on Wednesday in Tennessee. They are citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.

Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus have released a joint statement regarding the divorce: “As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.”

Besides Miley Cyrus, the couple have four other children together.
